Another highlight out of our back catalogue, produced by @Daso and released in 2007. "Thujon" is such a bomb in the club. The real "hit" on this release, however, is "La Fée Verte", a wonderful musical seduction.

Daso, a fellow well known not only for his fantastic releases on MBF and Connaisseur, but also for his furious live-sets, sets out to bring the noise again. After having been inspired by the nerdy world of old-schoolish adventure games for his last release, he uses the dissolute world of absinthe as an afflatus this time. He takes us to a land where alluring little green fairies buzz around and people cut their ears off under absinthe’s massively woozy influence.

Thujon: The impact of well-made Absinthe depends on its concentration of thujon. It can best be described as a kind of heightened clarity of mind and vision. And this is what this track is all about - 100% Thujon!

Louche is the name of the cloudy effect you achieve by adding water to spirits, which contain anise, like absinthe does. This track starts with a low-key groove, which forces up to a mental dance affaire, including a genuine rocking Daso-esque break. 

La Fée Verte: Imagine a lazy summer afternoon. You’re sitting outside a small café at the Cote d’Azur. After drinking your fourth Absinthe you might actually see a little green fairy, sitting on your shoulder, singing this sweet melody in your ear.

« When I Look » featuring Shaun J. Wright (Hercules & Love Affair) is classic vocal house with a twist of tension and despair. This is Chicago-styled – from Joe Smooth to Derrick Carter –, summer-ready dance music with high production values, yet it also slightly sounds like something’s going wrong in there. Just the perfect balance between an uplifting celebration and a restless, dark pounding.
 
Opening with a sample from a Twin Peaks episode, « It Is Happening Again » is a freaky, early acid number, designed for a rave settled in a mental institution. Deep burnt just like Bobmo’s soul, it’s reminiscent of nineties acid techno, both US and Euro, but exhales something eerily sensual too.

As Berlin based producer Ninetoes makes his Saved debut with ‘Paapaa / Jiving’ there is a distinct feeling that a new raw and untapped talent has now been unearthed. With only a handful of releases to his name, the German has displayed an immense talent for filling his music with depth, flair and personality. It is that eccentricity, which is clear to see throughout his two track EP for Saved, combined with genuine talent behind the mixing desk that announces this diamond of a discovery.

‘Paapaa’ is a groovy, techno strut that has plenty of swing. Based around a deep bassline, tumbling, almost tribal drums and incessant vocals, the track swings and swirls as it evolves subtly. It is the well-timed gearshifts that inject the tune with purpose though, throwing the rhythms into wild and intoxicating disarray.

‘Jiving’ has an even wilder aesthetic, settling into a warm, balmy and exotic atmosphere. The bottom end is fully loaded and locked into a groove that swells from underneath. A curious breakdown that strips things down to just the vocal and indigenous drums is shattered when the total force of the track is unleashed once and for all. It’s an all-encompassing assault that sweeps everything in its way along with it. It’s a pleasure to be caught up in the mayhem.

I've dropped this a day early to make sure it's available for your NYE celebrations! I just want to take this time to thank every person who has supported me in any way this year. 2014 has been the busiest and best year of my life and I can't wait to share what's coming up in 2015!

This mix contains 19 tracks that I'm feeling and as always they're from a variety of genres. I'm rinsing some of these bangers on the dance-floor right now and the others I'm just absolutely in love with.

My mixtape's are my 80 minute journey of music, my way to explore, express and share my passion. From all sub genres of house music to my outro's which usually go deep and downtempo, another kind of music I listen to religiously.

Searching for the music and then making them literally takes me days and days but mixtape making is something I really love to do. I hope you enjoy them as much as I love making them!

Mid February 2015 will see MadTech Records release ‘Rise Of The Machines’ by Let The Machines Do The Work, comprising four versions of the title cut.

Let The Machines Do The Work is a UK based collective which since its inception has released a string of singles via the likes of Kitsune, Champion and MadTech Records where they return to here. Across said releases the outfit have picked up support from the BBC Radio 1 elite, Pete Tong, B Traits, Mista Jam and Zane Lowe, as well as grabbing the attention of DJ’s such as Soul Purpose, Speaking Minds, Diz and Xpress 2.

Kicking off the single is the original mix of lead cut ‘Rise Of The Machines’ which sees the band offer up a bass heavy workout fuelled by a stab led low-end sequence, sparse rhythms and tension building synth sweeps, while low pitched vocal chops instil a further dark and hypnotic feel to the record.

Following is the ‘Club Edit’ which as the name would suggest tips the mood over to a more upfront, rugged feel with more rolling percussive elements, frenzied acidic squelches and more prominent, spoken-word vocal styling’s. The ‘Club Dub’ steps up next, pulling back the vibe to a raw instrumental led aesthetic for a more heads down, groove driven approach.

Then last up, to close the package is the ‘Rise Of The Machines (Acapella)’, bringing the thought- provoking vocal lines into the limelight, a useful tool for layering up in anticipation of the lead composition.

Let The Machines Do The Work’s ‘Rise Of The Machines’ is out on MadTech Records 16th February (Beatport) and 1st March (General) 2015.

Heron’s first release with Soma is a single that brings a new and different sound to the label that is both interesting and engrossing. “Reborn” incorporates motifs and style drawn from various genres with wobbling bass and deconstructed rhythm sections influenced by certain areas of bass music. This convergence of distinctive forms helps the EP to maintain a dynamic structure with layers added sequentially and separate elements given their own focus throughout. 

Title track ‘Reborn’, follows the ingenuity represented throughout the EP combining various different elements. The track opens up with bold, bouncing rhythm matched well with the distinctive repetition of the bassline. Again these elements are carried on a wave of hi-hat and metallic rhythm which gives the track a recognisable edge. Coupled with the sharp synth line the track conveys an industrial feel and moves to slightly darker areas. The interplay between elements maintains a strong dynamic with rhythm parts subsiding to highlight the synths and effects being brought to the fore amongst well balanced interplay.


Foolish Solina finishes off the EP with a perfectly old school feel. Deep pads open quickly followed by a bassline reminiscent of Saunderson-era techno. A stomping 909 kick flashes in alongside crisp ride cymbals as electronic fluctuations give this track a unique progression finally unloading a full assault from the 909 as the track moves into overdrive.

This is a single that develops a new sonic avenue for Heron and Soma as the artist encompasses a busier and more prominent style.

Mendo presents his first album: Avalon.

The album includes 14 tracks of different styles such as Downtempo, House & Tech-House.
 
Mendo originally started the album in 2010 with tracks like «Aventuras», «Madrugada» and «Inocencia», but due to the fact that someone uploaded a dj set including «Aventuras», it got ripped and published on Internet before the official release. This is why «Encantos EP» was released including «Aventuras» and «Madrugada» and the plan of the album changed completely.
 
After the big success of “Encantos EP”, Mendo received many remix requests what made him postpone the release of the album a little.
 
In 2012 he left his native country, Switzerland, and moved to Malaga (Spain). He built a new recording studio and re-started the album with 14 completely new tracks.
 
Finally, in 2013, Avalon is ready to be released on his own label: Clarisse Records.

David Mendo and his debut album „Avalon‟ are as ready for the Balearics as a one-way ticket to the White Isle. With endurance-testing tribal house and funk-flicking clubbing making you feel comfortable, it‟s as if Mendo is towelling down the throbbing perspiration he‟s causing you, putting boogie in your body with sprinklings of disco glitter („Fever‟) and driving, deep and funky house deliverance that has made his sound cross-continental - and this is before you find the title on maps from Australia to Canada, France to the United States.
 
There‟s always a party going on somewhere in the world if you think he may have missed out on peak Ibiza season - Mendo could just as well have the Miami Winter Music Conference in his sights (the home of the Heat being something of a spiritual home) while staying golden until the next Spanish reign rolls around - so the perennial producer‟s platters shouldn‟t be waiting long for their next passport stamp, the head of the Clarisse label leading from the front as he continues to reap A-list blessings, having given his gift of groove to dance music academies as prestigious as Cadenza, Rekids, Saved, Get Physical and Defected.

Close to 100 minutes long and having marinated since 2010 – overzealous internet users spoiled the album‟s progress first time around - you shouldn‟t expect anything resembling a flash in the pan from The Club Science and Cadenza connect who‟s had releases evacuate racks since the turn of the Millennium. Therefore it‟s a given that he should ease into his 2013 long player with the expectant opener „Mintro‟, chanting as a ritual for ravers to register for. Carried over into the global flavouring that dusts the Carla Krevey-shaped „Abstract‟, a reflection of Mendo‟s own cosmopolitan background takes deep house from Spanish backstreets to a nerve-fraying theatre of shady glances and unspoken mystique.
 
Removing himself from the early tenterhooks he places the album upon, the road to „Avalon‟ starts to both wind and unwind, kissed with an exotic air („Clavelito‟) earning recompense from the motif of dance music as international language, even if the harder nosed „Everybody Love‟ wants the funk all for itself. From beach hut to ballroom, „Rising Sun‟ won‟t be an Ibiza staple just by coincidence of name alone, proving piano remains king as it gets you moving a little closer to a blue skied cloud nine along with the similarly self-explanatory „Samba‟. 

Then, „Waterborne‟, making you walk a crystal-edged tightrope between breath-catching and breath-taking, sees Mendo expanding the album‟s outlook into something more panoramic, extended markedly further on the surefooted spacewalk „Interlude‟ and the follow-up beam-up of the title track, a moment where the sweaty, buoyant masses join moist palms as they see the light in unison, swaying side to side to zero (gravity) in on the album‟s continuing theme of inclusion.
 
„Amazon‟ and „Libellule‟, closing the album by tilting chairs back and just stopping short of placing cucumber slices over your eyes, are part of an interjecting support group for when you‟re done dribbling out of every pore. “You will be surprised to discover this album has half of its tracks in a down tempo style, that people aren't used to hearing from me”, Mendo admits; but while they almost give LP‟s flow a reality check, the expansive sweep over arenas and into the nooks of backrooms makes cohesively appreciable sense. Where you imagine him lining up his famed four deck set-up like the most meticulous of domino rallies, the gaps are measured out so methodical motions link easily into unrelenting circuits that are cause for sprinkler systems to go off, or for punters to turn a pool party into a riptide.
 
A chain reaction of bass-pushed loops and Iberian ivories, Mediterranean mastery and NYC nous, is only part of the equation. “The key to a successful party is to get girls dancing. Once they dance, everybody does.” Certainly there‟s no room here for honeys whose hips can‟t hula, but „Avalon‟ should have no problem reaching out to hip-bone hustlers as the likes of the infectiously incessant „La Krika‟ and „Les Clochers de Belarus‟ get sand between your toes while telling daybreak to wait. He finishes with a declaration reassuring in its stating of the obvious: “I just want people to have a good time with my music.”
