Another day, another Treasure tribute in NES Format!  Let's play charades - I'm a dismembered puppet hell-bent on saving my theatre-stage-inspired town from the clutches of King Dark Demon...and I can only attack by using my noggin, not to mention the star of an overlooked platformer from ages past!

By now, the provided title above should be nothing more than a 'dead giveaway'...this is from one of the later stages as the big DH alters its background inbetween while confronting all sorts of odd sh__ on his merry way!  Also, you'll have to excuse the awkward rhythmic sequence at about 0:39-0:55 (considering I had to make it as close to the original Genesis version as possible).

As we're all aware of by now - it's been over a month since the death of ol' "Ziggy Stardust / Major Tom / Starman / Goblin King Jareth"...and considering how I'm a month overdue for what I'm presenting to you all this week, what better time than today to pay the best possible tribute?

Inspired by not only his legacy alone, but that of the combined efforts of Lucas & the late Henson - why not recreate its opening theme in the usual, tried-and-true NES format right?  Speaking of which, there was a Japan-only Famicom adaptation of Labyrinth by Tokuma, Atlus & Activision - which for the record, DID NOT include this song AT ALL.

If these words don't ring at least a bell or 2 - I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE WILL.  Hailing from the late "Starman's" 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars' album, this was first released as a single from his short-lived band Arnold Corns...  

Not to mention, this ditty revolved around an alien messiah, hinting at his destiny to save the world from the impending disaster described in "Five Years" (another Bowie hit from the same time period), as well as his fate as the quintessential "soul lover".   Unbelievable, as this is my 2nd tribute cover chronicling the legacy of the long-since-deceased 'Ziggy Stardust/Goblin King' himself.

Back with a vengeance yet again, this time with a tribute to an underrated X68000 top-view tank shmup, originated over 1/4 of a century ago, and ported to the Genesis(MD) not long after!

Considering it's the start of yet another new year, and that I haven't been updating my channel lately... IT'S ABOUT TIME I MADE A MUCH-DESERVED COMEBACK.  Case in point: here's yet another classic many recognize from almost 50 years ago - despite some of us not being around then!

First featured on "The Partridge Family" in the 'Feminist' episode, it was since then covered and sampled throughout the ages by various other acts - most notably Perry Como, Kaci Battaglia, Katie Cassidy, Paul Westerberg, Constantine Maroulis, the cast In Search of the Partridge Family, and even Less Than Jake (featured in SCREAM 2 - which was how I was curious about this song in the first place, for the record).

Now hear it like you've never heard it before...IN ALL ITS INCOMPARABLE NINTENDO GLORY!!

The Partridge Family's "I Think I Love You" (8-Bit Cover)

Man, am I back at it again with another complete, yet random, 2-in-1 song medley!  What is it made up of, you might ask?

First:  Originally written & crafted by one of the most presitigous British rock bands of all-time and inspired by Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata", it was later covered by various artists ever since its initial release (most notably by Elliott Smith, heard at the end of Sam Mendes' "American Beauty").

Second: A murder ballad perfected by a late-'80s heavy metal band off of their first-ever, self-titled album; revolving around a high-school kid named Ricky who had just received a life imprisonment sentence with a minimum of exactly the same age as he is for offing another teenager, hence the title.

The Beatles' "Because" / Skid Row's "18 and Life" (8-Bit Cover Medley)

Recorded in the summer of '66, this popular hit wasn't released until the start of the following year, but originated as a Robby Krieger composition, with the late Morrison writing the second verse.  Although the album version was just over seven minutes long, it was widely requested for radio play, so a single version was edited to under three minutes with nearly all the instrumental break removed for airplay on AM radio (the latter of which was translated for this particular cover).

Info aside, I also suggest watching the Oliver Stone film with Kilmer, Whaley, Dillon & MacLachlan portraying the entire band (by the ill-fated Carolco)...and sinking your ears into this long-awaited tribute!!

A continuation of my last station (8Bit_KY2k13).  Basically, just like the aforementioned previous sound bank - this one's packed with WAY more NES-inspired [8-Bit] covers of various indie and mainstream [no infringement/pirating intended] rock/ska/folk songs, as well as non-NES arranged tunes!  Also, as with the previous sound bank, my duration's running very short, so be on the lookout for the last one!


IMPORTANT NOTE (heartfelt regards/apologies to all 'brothers' who happen to come across it): I will NOT cover any dubstep, hip-hop/rap and/or R&B songs - AT ALL!
