With the remix edition of MUUI's 'Relevant Symmetry' we welcome back label favorites Mononoid and D-Nox in collaboration with Ed Steele to ICONYC.

D-Nox & Ed Steele open proceedings with their rendition of 'Relevant Symmetry'. D-Nox who needs no introduction, has been gracing the top labels of the world with his work for years, with his partner in crime Beckers. For the remix of 'Relevant Symmetry' he teamed up with Ed Steele, who has seen a steady rise to the top with his outstanding productions.

The duo created a rework full of tension from the word go, as the atmospheric vibe subtly keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as their restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a warm glow, creating an air of sophistication. "Essential stuff!"

Next up we have a remix from label all-stars Mononoid, known for their polished driving sound, keep the ethereal theme of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before its drum fills and general warmth all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear, yet sounding fresh – Their transcendent touch up adds controlled calmness, but increases the groove with stripped back and lucid elements at the same time, before the luscious pads grace the rework changing the vibe and creating a blanket of warmth that wraps around the effected groove.

With the remix edition of 'Relevant Symmetry' MUUI once again proves that the enigmatic producer knows no boundaries, as this beautiful melodic gem guides you to a full-on club laden, melodic hug of a release that will cause many smile induced moments and lift the gloomy mood that many of us are experiencing. With 'Hi Low' we welcome back New York's finest Allies for Everyone to ICONYC. Allies, who doesn't need any introduction, treats us with a brand-new track that oozes class and sophistication. 'Hi Low' features rich driving textures; as well as euphoric and moody deep house vibes to satisfy ambient, uplifting and feel-good needs, which are the keywords for this beautiful and extraordinary release.

Allies for Everyone opens proceedings with his smashing original mix. Allies' maturity and musical development is in full swing, as he kicks off with a deep, hypnotic beat which is interspersed with subtle effective percussion a profound floaty grooves and indie influences, turning this one into an underground anthem with a very soul tangling appeal. The hypnotizing groove combined with Allies' smooth vocal work gradually ease their way to the breakdown before all elements combine to be unleashed into a rising melodic hook, intertwined with the infectious groove that fades in and out for maximum effect.

German sound maestro Mollono.Bass' interpretation opens proceedings on the remix front; he hits all the right chords from the word go. Known for his distinct and quality driven production style, the German's deep entry is intermixing with glowing drive, filtered stabs and stunning groove which beautifully leads into a drop full of tension and excitement, with the understated yet driving bassline powering the groove along. He manages to keep the energy up, allowing the driving melodic house feel to shine thru over the many layers and textures to create a beautiful soundscape to round off this classy underground crowd pleaser. Essential stuff!

Returning for another outing are our favorite Dutch duo Mononoid. Their sound is a tough thing to pin down. They are such a unique act in the sense that their emotional creations carry quite a large scope. They are not afraid to explore esoteric or introspective themes and the end result is always a compelling one. Such is the case with their remix of 'Hi Low', which carries many of their most loved production hallmarks. From a warm, meaty low end to icy atmospherics and an effects storyboard to get lost in, there is certainly a lot to love. The main break being the high point, with the mood shifting from emotive to ominous with an effortless ease. It's something you rarely see and they once again pulled it off beautifully here.

Allies for Everyone's return to ICONYC, with the amazing support from Mollono.Bass and Mononoid, is a triumphant one. 'Hi Low' manages to deliver a message of sustained musical relevance in emphatic fashion to warm the soul. "The former beginning his journey on John Digweed’s Bedrock Records almost two decades ago, to more recent times with quality outings on DJ Zombi’s Beat Boutique and Proton Music. While Movement boss Tash has enjoyed similar success in recent years, showcasing his music on D-Formation’s Beatfreak Recordings and Paul Hazendonk’s Manual Music. Now coming together for the first time, Dousk and Tash present their debut collaboration ‘Future Funk’ alongside a remix from Mononoid.

Beginning with the original mix the duo’s production expertise becomes readily apparent as they craft a dance floor creation for the ages. Built around a spacious, funk filled groove it’s a cascading tonal narrative which eventually grabs a hold of you. Vibrant and timeless, it’s effervescent character commands a big presence, while a complementary groove and astral designs only add to its rhythmic charm. A well crafted break is the icing on the cake, with an airy, atmospheric tension and tasteful modulation building towards a drop that’s sure to capture the full attention of your dance floor.

The lone interpretation of ‘Future Funk’ is provided by Mononoid who return to the label for their third appearance. The Dutch duo debuted on the Greek imprint in October of 2018 with the well received ‘Wind Mee’. April of this year then yielded a stunning remix for Weekend Heroes, with a cutting edge EP for D-Formation’s Beatfreak Recordings following shortly thereafter. Now landing back on the storied Greek imprint, Mononoid turn in a superb interpretation of ‘Future Funk’. Pristine in design and powerful in delivery, beefy beats and finely tuned drums create a buoyant framework at the outset. The seven minute journey proves to be a master class in dramatic storyboarding, as acidic pulses and astral aesthetics pierce the air in striking fashion. Icy atmospheres then descend over the groove, carrying perfectly into the main break, before a flurry of drums and a fragmented take on the lead theme spark a cosmic finale. It caps off a hugely successful collaborative project from Dousk and Tash, which further solidifies Movement Recordings as an elite imprint under the progressive music umbrella."
