It&rsquo;s that time a year again for the BBP Allstar crew to cook up some funky bangers to get you through the holiday season with your groove on. With Vol. 2 being an all Christmas themed album we decided with the Christmas Bootleg Bells Vol. 3 to take the party vibes back to the classic bootleg vibes, so it can last you all the way into the new year.The styles range from straight up ghetto funk bumpers from the likes of DJ B-Side &amp; BadboE and Sonale to Glitchy bass bangers from Boydex with Baxtra and JNRBoom - some funky breaks from KaKaow, The Fritz, Pecoe and Super Saturated and dancefloor groovers by Morlack and hip hop bangers from Tha Fun Police &amp; Kenny Beeper even some Drum N Bass from Gramophone Soul. It wouldn&rsquo;t be much of a Christmas release without at least one Christmas track and luckily Dal Platinum was on the spot to deliver a funky hip hop holiday banger to wrap up the compilation.|Enough party ammo to get all the funky parties rocking though-out the holidays and into 2023.

Eight years after Social Comment, the acclaimed collaborative album from All Good Funk Alliance and Swamburger, the two forces of beat-nature have joined up once again for the rousing 6-track EP Raised on Ten. All Good Funk Alliance consists of Frank Cueto (Vested Soul) and Rusty Belicek (Late Night Workshop), a production duo that's always ready to let the rhythm hit 'em. Swamburger is an MC's MC, one-half of the duo Mugs and Pockets, and previously of Solillaquists of Sound, who is never at a loss for crafty lyrical wordplay. Raised on Ten delivers a delicious stew of bass, breakbeats, and potent rhymes in an old-school style that'll thrill a diverse menagerie of DJs and listeners. It's boom bap to the max.

The tone is set from the start with "That's Deep," a full-on display of DC-flavored go-go beatology, devastating bass drops, rollicking piano riffs, and Swamburger getting his point across in the funkiest manner. "Face The Polls" furthers the groovy mayhem, complete with the staccato stabs and growling bass bits that All Good Funk Alliance is known for. There are also a couple of slower, pensive cuts, like the evocative and spacious "Nursery Rhymes." These nostalgic moments bring home one inspiration for the EP — Swamburger and Frank both lost their mothers during the recording of Raised on Ten, and the release's title is indeed a reference Swam's mom.

The entire EP is captivating, both for its musical and lyrical prowess. Whether grooving on a packed-out dancefloor, cruising on a sunny afternoon, or chilling at home with the ones you treasure, Raised on Ten will shoot vibes straight into the heart as well as the hips.

With the originals getting props from the likes of DJ Yoda, Fatboy Slim and JFB - it was time to do the do on the remix front and make the whole package even bigger. On 'Feel Good', Krafty Kuts moves away from the slinky p-funk of the original to lay down a more up-tempo funk version, while thatmanmonkz replaces the funk sample of the original with a driving house groove.

Over on 'Back In The Day', Smoove does exactly what his Old School mix says on the tin, dropping classic hip hop samples into the mix. George Solar finished off the package with a dubby slo-mo balearic mix perfect for downtempo sets on the island he calls home.

This mischievous kitty has been a long time coming and arrives in time to kick off 2024.  Prior to the inception of the Empresarios, the group’s vocalists were integral members of the renowned DMV-based Reggaeton group, MAFU Crew.  As reggaetón and perreo go global, it's only fitting that these seasoned vocalists return to their roots and bring forth a refined fusion of experience and innovation in their newest release, "Gatita Mala." 

Gatita Mala is a love song cautioning against that irresistibly tempting person.  The track’s vocals are expertly lead by Frankie Rosado who’s laid back swagger effortlessly embraces the reggaetón rhythm. Frankie’s lyrics are full of clever innuendos and dives into realms of intimacy and indulgence, such as the flirtatious allure of getting adventurous after smoking some krippy.  Felix “El Doble” Perez comes in with the slick verse to seal the deal, complementing his vocal partner smoothly. The long-time collaborators’ voices meld seamlessly, creating a melodic masterpiece. 

In addition to the original reggaeton rendition of the track, the Empresarios also offer a Downtempo Version and a remix by Dr. Diubell.  The original's horns and piano take center stage in the Downtempo Version, as the hip-hop beats make way for a more stripped-down percussive arrangement, taking the track to afterhours territory. The final track included is for the Salseros, the Dr. Diubell Remix includes lively horns in the Salsa version of this infectious track. With the various iterations of Gatita Mala, the Empresarios once again transcend genres and bring their Tropicaliente flair to this strong single.
