Greece’s funk maestro is back with an incredible new album, Soul Shower. Dimitris Tentinis is Mister T., a mainstay of the Cold Busted label having released seven previous albums through the respected imprint. His varied discography touches on hip hop, soul, dub, and electronic music – but funk is the consistent thread tying together all of Mister T.’s productions. His cuts have become staples in the DJ sets and playlists of underground tastemakers, and there’s also recognition from the mainstream — Mister T.’s music has appeared in brand campaigns from the likes of Capital One, Walmart, Nike, and Hennessy. The funk maestro is on the rise, and Soul Shower is his latest milestone.

Soul Shower opens gently with “Nostalgia for Bent,” featuring a lithe boom-bap beat, tinkling piano, pulsing bass, and a magical female vocal. Things get more layered on “Chain Reaction” as the beats are bolder, the music denser, and the vocal snippets strategically deployed. Other highlights include the heavy horn section funk of the title track; “Groove Analyser” and its retro junkyard vibes; and the aftrobeat/hip-hop mind-meld of “Felabration.” Once the album ends with the dub benediction of “Life In Lockdown,” the listener will have experienced a whole world of inventive grooves. Cold Busted returns to familiar label artist Poldoore, born Tom Schillebeeckx, to release his new single “Sweet Memories,” featuring distinguished emcee Awon and DMC 2012 Team World Champion turntablist DJ Damented (of The Mixfitz). Based out of Belgium, Poldoore started producing at an early age and eventually his potential was realized by Cold Busted’s offer to release the debut L.A.X. EP. The pairing only grew stronger from there through many projects and compilation appearances that garnered much praise. Poldoore’s sound is about good vibes, creating warm atmospheres that blend funk, soul, lounge, and reggae with punchy drum breaks. Those are the building blocks for “Sweet Memories,” an effective standalone instrumental with lazy horns floating atop airy guitars and fluttering keys combining to create a laid-back atmosphere while fat bass and snappy drums work the neck out. The reminiscing rhymes of Awon, a figure in the new emerging ‘jazz hop’ scene, flow rhythmically while DJ Damented’s scratch skills add a next level vocal chop to the beat. Deciding to include this one in the crate should be easy, much like the cut’s vibe. &#13;

It features some talented guests, including the mysterious Maverick, emcee duo The 49ers, American blues singer Bodhilynn, and trumpeter Will Magid. Based out of Belgium, Poldoore started producing at an early age and eventually his potential was realized by Cold Busted&rsquo;s offer to release his debut L.A.X. EP . From there the pairing has only grown stronger. Poldoore&rsquo;s sound is about good vibes, creating warm atmospheres that blend funk, soul, lounge, and reggae with punchy drum breaks. Among the album&rsquo;s many highlights is &ldquo;Morning Glory,&rdquo; featuring a rocksteady beat with bright arpeggiated synths at select moments, with the bulk of the track carried by wailing guitars and chopped up blues vocals. &ldquo;Ahhh Yeah&rdquo; enters like a walk in the park with bright keys, lovely strings, and funky rhythms, the results of rearranging an original sample into suitable bits and pieces with a little help from Maverick. &ldquo;Heard It All Before&rdquo; has Bodhilynn&rsquo;s soulful vocal hook accompanied by The 49ers&rsquo; rhymes and a key-based beat with soaring highs. &ldquo;Natural High&rdquo; elicits psychedelic vibes with plenty of effects, a sporadic, low electric shock, and interwoven, layered guitar play. &ldquo;Unconditional&rdquo; uses a Motown-like backing track beefed up by a strong kick and slow, sizzling hats, cymbals, and snares. Founded by renowned DJ / producer Haldo, Italian house music label Proceed Records is proud to present the Back to the Past #1 EP, the first in a series of familiar songs covered in a deep house style. No stranger to producing deep and soulful house music, Haldo has released with labels such as Transport Recordings, Conya, Adaptation Music, and labels of his own with remix work for house heavyweights like Tony Humphries and Victor Simonelli. For this first installment he adds his finesse to &rsquo;70s disco, &rsquo;80s new wave pop, and &rsquo;90s house and soul with the help of vocalists Sergi&rsquo;o and Silvio Gigante (also known as London producer Stereo-Junkie). The Cold Busted label returns with German producer Krystian Shek for the new album&nbsp;Destroy &amp; Rebuild V2. Krystian appeared on the scene in 2003 with his first of three artist albums on the late Pete Namlook&rsquo;s FAX +49&ndash;69/450464 label. Impressively prolific, other albums appeared on labels such as the Indonesian imprint UTC Wired and Diventa Recordings while singles have found their way onto Berettamusic and previous Cold Busted releases. Destroy &amp; Rebuild V2 takes on world influences matched with sharply percussive downtempo beats. Highlights include the sweet sounds found sifting through the South East Asia-inspired "Soi Honey," the funky breaks, spaced-out Middle East synth melodies, and grinding bass line that make up "Muammar Al Gaddafi," and the glitchy acid-tinged "Sunshine." The latter wouldn't feel out of place as the theme to a dramatic special agent movie scene shot in some exotic location (music licensors for action films take note). A solid collection.

When two house music veterans join forces on Viva Recordings for some music action, you know you've got something special. And that's certainly the case with "You Got Something," the first of a two-part single from San Francisco keyboard and studio legend Sen-Sei (Delve Deeper, Nervous) and renowned DJ-turned-producer HUGEhands (AKA James Druett — i Records, Sound Vessel). The pair have come together for a slinky, late-night deep house charmer full of left-coast vibes, dubby flavors, and solid musicianship. A punchy rhythm-and-bass track leads the dancefloor on a journey through affecting vocal hooks, echoed sax riffs, and intricately layered keyboard sections. Col Lawton (Deep Fix Recordings) slips into the collab with a spacious remix of "You Got Something," blending dreamy effects and flourishes with the original's melodic craft. The result is a tad jazzier while gliding further into the deep side, eventually sprinkled with a floor-lifting acid bass line. Both sides of this single are sure to become DJ staples, soon to be accompanied by the release of Part 2.

Athens, Greece DJ and producer mister T. has readied another ace album for the Cold Busted label -- the appropriately titled Funk Around the Sun LP -- and this one is sure to be in heavy rotation. mister T. is a master of instrumental, soulful, and upbeat dance floor funk, and this album further solidifies this fact. Retro party sounds get the beat-down with a playful attitude in twelve funk-tastic tracks, just in time for summer. It's hard to pick highlights, but here's a few: "Mo Style" has powerful vocals from the '60s era that some may find familiar, but reimagined over funky breaks with rhythmic guitar licks, brassy horns, and soul organs. The horn section comes further front-and-center over the drum spatter of "Dig This," with the addition of humor through a sparingly used vocal sample. Then, in the style of swing, "The Usual" is set to have people twirling about the dance floor in dramatic arms flailing, feet kicking fashion. Delicious stuff, primed and ready for the dancehall.

Cold Busted is pleased to present the Gonna Give Ya Something To Funk On EP from Vladimir Sivc and his Funky Destination project. As it says on the package - with both the artist and title featuring the four letter word - this one tips the 'funk' scale. Crossing his native country of Croatia from east to west, Svic first took up singing and playing rhythm guitar before discovering turntables and DJ'ing on the move. He now travels through various styles while producing fresh music based around the use of live instruments. With an inclination towards the wild and groovy, Svic turns back the dial to rest on a retro feel for his new EP. Ursula 1000 is the alter ego of Alex Gimeno, a producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist based in Brooklyn, New York. Unconscious Honey is the synth-pop project spearheaded by Björn Trenker, who hails from Berlin. His debut album, Being a Stranger, took inspiration from his background in psychiatry and was highly appreciated by the queer Berlin city magazines Siegessäule and BLU, as well as KALTBLUT Magazine, who deemed it one of the best dance music albums in 2020.

During the pandemic, Björn collaborated with his regular co-producer and husband, Paul "Snax" Bonomo, and decided to remix and reinterpret the songs from the album, with help from other LGBTQ artists and friends such as Electrosexual, Mavin, and Snecker. He also began composing the four tracks on his new EP soon after the release of his second album. Although his debut live performance was canceled due to Covid-19's second wave, Björn continued to work on new material during the lockdown.

Unconscious Honey's latest EP, Fault Lines, consists of four new and exciting songs from this period. The first song, "Fault Lines," is a synth-pop number about finding moments of joy in difficult times. "Percolate" is an upbeat song about the insecurities of being in a romantic entanglement. "Crush Of Time" is inspired by Twin Peaks, describing the feeling of getting lost in the night and experiencing a religious-like trance. Finally, "Sense Of Rapture" is about the ups and downs of queer cruising, including loneliness and disappointment, but also the feeling of absolution in a secret community.

Unconscious Honey's Fault Lines will be available on Random Records starting December 15th, 2023.

The original flows like a deep house dream as floaty pads, an old-school bass line ride, and subdued house beats support Becka's emotive vocals and lyrics. Drawing upon the tradition of soulful house and R&B and blending it with lush production flourishes yields one serious late-night gift. The dancefloor is the ecstatic recipient. The Cold Busted label is pleased to present another installment of their funky and soulful downtempo beat series Street Bangerz, designating Volume 9 to fourteen tracks by Sixfingerz, a Belgian producer from Antwerp. While he prides himself on a library of ethnic, worldly instruments and a collection of old records from which to draw from, the influences of his early years of music listening are also strong, coming in phases of IDM or hip hop. All of these weigh in to give his tracks an old school feel when it comes to sounds, but a foundational freedom for dealing in atypical beat patterns and arrangements. Indeed, much of the sounds used in Sixfingerz' edition of Street Bangerz have an almost instant, timeless familiarity, even if strictly on a subconscious level for some. The guitars stylistically pull from different eras, the musings of instruments from far away lands excite, the rhythm section's samples and pitch manipulated vocal chops are complex, and the lo-fi effects bond together his other unique, knick-knack filled sound pallets. This is not trip hop or downtempo as some may know it, but a hyperactive and boundary-less take on the formats.

Jackie Gage, who was heard on Visions of the Unknown, contributes her soulful tones to “Only One”, with the lovely music providing an ample showcase for the Bay Area singer. “Without Gravity” is a smooth, jazzy wonder that dreamily incorporates the voice of Notown Sound’s Angela Muhwezi … the result is a fine sonic approximation of ‘floating.’ Globally active Los Angeles-based vocalist Laura Mace waxes wistfully with “Leaving The Past Behind”, capturing a feeling of psychedelic balladry when mixed with Captain Supernova’s flowing music-field. Also from Los Angeles, Natasha Agrama collaborates on two very different songs: the late night waltz “Searching Forever” and the pensive but upbeat groover “Free Fall (Of Your Soul)”. Despite the variety of vocal contributors, Doors Of Perception has a cohesive, story-telling sequence, glued together by Captain Supernova’s smart and melodic arrangements.

Greek rhythm rustler Chop Juggler has dropped his debut album – titled More Is Less – to follow up the well-received Diggasmic EP on Cult Classic Records. Released on the prolific Cold Busted label, More Is Less collects eleven top notch beat-heavy jams from the young producer, now in his early twenties but involved in music making since the beginning of his teens. His artist name is apt, as Chop Juggler is adept at taking loops and samples and melding, twisting, and – yes – chopping them into intricate compositions. “Amethyst” provides convincing evidence; seemingly disparate sources are cut into sonic snatches, layered and bursting in and out of the mix to any beat-head’s delight. There’s also the more uptempo “Night Travel” which sounds just like that … if one is traveling by moonlight in a ’70s television crime drama. Slower, spacey moments like “Money Can’t Buy Time” and “Brave New World” showcase Chop Juggler’s depth, but with his ear for striking samples and tough hip hop beats still in full display. More Is Less follows through in its title’s statement by never overwhelming, but the album’s satisfying flow will indeed find the listener looking for more from this talented producer.

The Greek beat-head massive is represented once again on the Cold Busted label with Beatbop Street. It’s an album from the cool new project AndyFellaz, a collaboration of Athens-based producer Billa Qause (Beatquick) and percussionist Nikos Martziokas (Wolfy Funk). Influenced by ’90s hip hop, trip hop, Latin montunos, jazz, and lounge, the pair have delivered fourteen exciting cuts that groove and shimmer with the best of ’em. Based out of the funky scene brewing in Athens, Greece, Mister T leads the way with another spell-binding album release on the Cold Busted imprint. With accolades from the likes of Greg Wilson, Mark Farina (Mushroom Jazz), and Jose Padilla (Café del Mar), Mister T has become a respected name in the global beat-making scene. The new album — Black Drop — further cements Mister T’s elevated position. Its 12 tracks display an ambitious assembly of creative rhythm construction, crafty sample splicing, and deliciously heavy vibes.

The title track sets the tone, intro’ing with a fat (phat!) beat before a time traveling blues vocal enters the scene. Dusty strings, stabs of filtered guitar, and a pulsing low end lend a feel that’s both wistful and dance-worthy. Boston beat-maker Jenova 7 returns to Cold Busted for the crucial cut collection Dusted Jazz Vol. 3. A crate-digging vinyl junkie and film school graduate, inspired by the heyday of ‘90s trip-hop — and artists like DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, and Portishead — Jenova 7 forged his own sound, eventually ending up on DJ Mark Farina’s Mushroom Jazz 8. After taking a stylistic departure with the funky sci-fi themed album A Cosmic Safari, his collaboration with Russia’s Eddie Shinn, Jenova 7 issues the long-awaited third volume of Dusted Jazz, following the first two volumes on Dusted Wax Kingdom. He is also a member of trip-hop trio Wax Triptych (with Mononome and Mr. Moods).

The cuts transmit a hazy and jazzy flow throughout, featuring chalky mid-tempo breakbeats and funky beamed-in-from-the-70s atmospheres and flavors. You can almost see a sun-drenched, scratchy super-8 film accompanying “5 Pointz Theme,” an immensely cool cut paying homage to a city’s graffiti center. “You Dig?”, which originally appeared on IWYMI Volume Nine, continues the vibe, delivering squelchy vintage synth, chunky piano, and a lovely guitar interlude. And “Static,” featuring the lovely vocals of K8 Marcos, reveals Jenova 7’s range — it’s a delicious, breezy trip hop tune that wouldn’t be out of place alongside the likes of Zero 7.

Dusted Jazz Vol. 3 is a treasure from top to bottom, and Jenova 7 joins the ranks of his influences with this accomplished and multi-faceted release.

Long-time member of the Viva Recordings fam Todd Omotani reaches out with a top notch single for the esteemed imprint. A veteran Pacific Northwest DJ, Omotani has held residencies in Seattle, Chicago, Vancouver, and Tokyo (at his renowned monthly SOLID party). Omotani’s discography contains releases on Amenti, Mark Farina’s Great Lakes Audio, and Viva — including a recent remix of Jay Tripwire’s “Filament Burst.” Also, Omotani is a talented artist and graphic designer, responsible for iconic images and cover art for numerous Viva releases.

“With The Jazz” is a smooth deep house cut that will please the old school heads to no end. Warm Rhodes-style keys, vibe riffs, a bouncing bass line, and cool vocal drops move this to the front of the DJ’s crate. Chicago’s legendary Diz, operating under the nom de plume of Bertha, tackles the first remix. It’s a swirly, hypnotic take, featuring intricate chord interplay, a sweet trumpet, and a feet-pleasing chunky groove. San Francisco’s Tim K, who supplied keys on the original version, rejoins the release for the second remix. A disco-style bass line leads this one on to the floor, while spacier, echoed elements appear in the midsection. Other melodic solos come on board, making this a definite late night treat.

Omotani’s “With That Jazz” will be released on vinyl with full color artwork by N8W. This is Viva Recordings’ first vinyl release in over ten years, limited to 300 copies.

St. Louis producer Bonus Points scores high with Off Topic, an outstanding four-song EP for the Cold Busted label. With previous appearances on Chillhop Records, Sundae Sauuce, Horizon, and others, Bonus Points delivers a dazzling take on boom-bap beats and future funk. Bonus Points is a graphic designer by day and, in turn, his musical compositions reflect attention to color, form, and detail. These beats are visual.

The release’s title cut opens things with a spacey intro before delving into some serious sunshine lounge vibes. A cool breeze wafts through these melodies. “Zoned Out” follows with a distant, romantic guitar and a lonesome, pensive feeling that’s perfect for seaside pondering. Next up is the old-timey jazz bop of “Coffee Lounge,” recalling the St. Louis swing of yesteryear over some phat beats. Off Topic closes with “Back And Forth,” featuring more cool, jazzy guitar riffs and a wanderer’s groove. Solid and ready for action.

Cold Busted has unveiled the latest offering in the vintage-style Jet Set 7” series. This time it’s from saib., the Moroccan beat-smith behind the exquisite albums Sailing and Around The World. Mixing tempered hip hop beats with jazzy vibes and a lounge sensibility, saib. touches on a style that’s both chill and opulent — fitting for the nostalgic vacation vibe of Jet Set.

The bossa nova flavors of “Brazilero” open the single as we calm our nerves with a tropical drink. The title cut then transports the listener through an airport lounge and straight into a groovy seat in first class. Dreams are another form of travel and “Lady Jane” captures that perfectly with its soft vocal, soothing guitar, and rolling beats. And “Jazzy” closes out Jet Set, signaling a cool touchdown and arrival as sax riffs serenade and crisp rhythms vibrate. Another smooth journey from saib. airlines!
