Formed back in the heady days of 1987 at the start of the ‘acieed’ explosion, Acid Jazz was the first of the groundbreaking new indie labels and paved the way for the likes of Mo Wax, Wall Of Sound and Talkin' Loud…

Initially a simple bedroom operation established by Eddie Piller and Gilles Peterson, within three months of the first 45 release (Galliano’s Frederic Lies Still), the label had grown rapidly, acquired premises in London’s east end and laid out a unique manifesto of alternative club sounds – jazz, street-soul, funk, latin, reggae and jazz poetry all put in an early appearance. Galliano, Chris Bangs, The Night Trains, The Last Poets, A Man Called Adam and Snowboy & The Latin Section were amongst the first wave of label signings and they all appeared live at groundbreaking jazz themed nights at London clubs like the WAG in Soho and Camden’s legendary Dingwalls.





By ’89, Peterson had left the label to establish his own Talking Loud imprint and Piller soon moved the operation to Denmark Street, London’s original Tin Pan Alley, into the former EMI music office. The next wave of signings included D Influence, Jamiroquai and The Brand New Heavies. Chart success quickly followed as the label spread its numerous tentacles around the world. The sound of the label became the name of choice for the scene that had established in its wake and by the early ’90s, Acid Jazz was booming out of a succession of speakers from Sweden to Singapore, Hamburg to Hobart, Shibuya to Sheffield and everywhere in between. International tours followed as the label expanded through the 90′s, gradually increasing their musical influences to include daisy-age hip hop, garage psyche and trip hop.





By the mid-90′s Acid Jazz had revived the careers of legends like Terry Callier, Brian Auger and Gregory Isaacs, established three subsidiaries (Focus, All Seeing Eye and Roots to cater for progressive indie, drum and bass and roots and culture respectively) and signed yet another wave of successful independent artists which included the likes of Corduroy, Mother Earth, The Humble Souls, Goldbug and a dozen more.





In 1994, the label took the plunge and opened the first ‘non-house’ based night club in London. Based on the site of the Bass Clef, a down-at-heel and eventually semi-derelict jazz club in Hoxton – perched precariously amidst the second world war bomb sites, derelict buildings and culture-free zone, the club was credited with paving the way for the whole Hoxton/Shoreditch explosion of the late nineties. Indeed, the club was rarely less than full seven nights a week hosting events from the likes of Goldie’s Metalheads, Talvin Singh, Coldcut, Ab-ashanti, Athletico and the label’s own Magic Bus. The Blue Note closed its doors at the end of the decade and Acid Jazz went back to what they do best: releasing records.

Jumping forward to 2014 and we find the label firmly ensconced in their office at the top of Brick Lane and after celebrating their 25th Anniversary the label is as vibrant and vital as ever. The current roster includes the critically acclaimed, prog folk fusions of Matt Berry, new indie hopefuls Dexters, the soul meet the Streets stylings of New Street Adventure and ex Bluetones lead singer Mark Morriss, whilst the highly acclaimed Rare Mod series has discovered and released previously unknown works by everyone from The Riot Squad featuring David Bowie to the Small Faces Steve Marriott.

In short after over a quarter of a century Acid Jazz remains one of the UK’s most important independent labels.


Christine Michelle, a Seattle based DJ and producer,  was born in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood and raised surrounded by music. Growing up, she played viola in an orchestra and sang in a choir, and developed a deep love for piano, brass, and strings with classical and jazz influences.

She first discovered Seattle's underground dance music scene in the 1990's. Her love of music and dancing grew at parties like Freak Night, Nocturnal Wonderland, and at venues like Vinylized, NFT, DV8, Noc Noc, and the Fenix Underground, to name a few. This background led her to DJing in the summer of 2022.

Since then she has shared her craft at many of Seattle's top night clubs such as Monkey Loft, Cherry, Supernova, headlining at The Mercury and festivals such as Ignition NW and local PNW crews and supporting headliners such as Marbs, Lucati, Rimarkable, Ian Pooley, Dosem, and Anyasa. Christine is known for weaving magnetic sounds through a multiverse of genres moving dance floors.

Inspired to bring the dance music together to connect and share, Christine founded Elevated Frequencies events in March of 2023. As of October 2023, she brings her creativity to the studio where she works to produce bass-heavy and etherial sounds focused to raise vibrations and transcend dance floors.

Tidy Daps is a DJ/production duo based in Poland consisting of Tommy Doc and Tim Haze. Releases on approximately 40 labels from around the world.

An artist who came up as a popper on the dance floors of the Indianapolis and Chicago underground in the late 1990s. His inspiration comes from the many underground warehouse DJs, poppers, lockers and breakers of the midwest and around the globe.
Producer of golden-era hip-hop instrumentals since 2002 coming into the fold mixing hip-hop/downtempo and drum n bass for 18+ years.  With a calling to mix and produce house, he spent the summer of 2022 in Seattle, debuting at Monkey Loft, Timbre Room and Club Mercury. Currently working house and deep house production at his residence in San Diego.

Cuillere has established himself as a prominent figure in the world of house music, boasting a successful career as a producer and DJ. His journey began in the early nineties, when he first ventured into the world of DJ’ing, performing at various raves. Through skill and dedication, Cuillere garnered a strong following and secured club residencies across the United States. In 1999, he collaborated with Jolby to form the renowned crew known as the "Jack Junkies," further cementing his influence in the industry.

Cuillere's passion for house music production led him to form an alliance with Busy and Crux, which resulted in their debut single being released on DJ Sneak’s esteemed label, 'Oomph.' Building on this success, Cuillere and his cohorts, now known as 'Busy N Spoon,' went on to release tracks on prominent labels like Lingo and Photo Records. Transitioning to a solo career, Cuillere elevated his profile with a series of compelling EPs and remixes, captivating audiences and drawing attention from record labels such as Moulton, House Music Salad, No Fuss, LNJ, Pluralistic, Simplistic, Panhandle, and several others.

Currently residing in the North East, UK, Rory has been DJing for over 25 years. His early influences were the U.S. west coast House scene, in particular the early Naked Music vibe, Dubtribe Sound System, Miguel Migs, Rasoul, Andy Caldwell, JT Donaldson & Lance Desardi. 

More of Rory’s influences include the likes of Calum Walker, Brendan Costigane, Jimpster, Charles Webster, Vincenzo, DJ Ino, Seph, Steven Garcia, Schmoov, Dj Jauche and Crazy P....you can see it’s an eclectic bag. 

This distinctive sound and its influence is obvious when you hear Rory work a crowd in that individual and unique way that he has made his own by giving you that characteristic Cochrane deep house therapy. Rory has performed at some of the North East’s most prestigious and loved venues over the years, joints such as Stereo Bar, Tokyo Bar, To The Manor Born, The Loveboat, The Purple Onion, Cosmic Ballroom, Distrikt Bar & The Faversham down in Leeds to name a few..... 

His passion for Deep House music makes his sound very current. Rory is now running quality labels such as Deep Site Digital & Deep Site Vinylized along with Croatian DJ/producer and good friend Tom Krizic (DJ Funtom). Rory is also working on some interesting production projects of his own, which have meant remixes and a sweet original track with vocalist Sanna Hartfield 'Focus' on Addex’ label Limitation Music. Other remixes also on labels Oh! Stockholm, Deep Stitched..South Africa, The Purr Music, Sound Vessel Records, Be Adult Music, Personal Belongings, UM Records as well as Deep Site

Over the last few years Rory has played in Croatia, South Africa, Ibiza, Prague and Sao Paulo, Brazil where Rory performed at world famous club 'D-Edge' club  for FREAK CHIC...

More recent performances include Tulum Mexico, opening Lost Tribes @ Vagalume and warming the floor for Los Cabra @ Aguva Rooftop as well as Puro Beach Barcelona, Vlkova26 & Bukanyra Music Boat Prague, Florianopolis Brazil and W hotel in London where Rory also holds his monthly label residency show at the home of Bloop London Radio....
