Some collaborations are just meant to be and this can be said of Bryan Chapman and 8 Sided Dice. If you don’t know Bryan’s music already, then within a few bars you will realize there is more than a passing likeness to the heavy-weight funk that has come to characterize the label and the music of it’s founder, Alan Fitzpatrick. Dig deeper and the connections keep on coming. Not only does Bryan hail from Alan’s hometown of Southampton but, like Fitzpatrick, Chapman was brought to the attention of the wider world by early support from Dubfire, who signed Chapman’s “Echo Vacio” alter-ego in 2011 to Sci+Tec and also championed Fitzpatrick and ESD’s first “hit”, ‘9 Hours Later’ 

The Irrelevance Of Tomorrow EP consists of three no-nonsense tracks, each big on persona. ‘Box Of Voices’, with its pulsing electronic hook, is bursting with tension as its steady rolling groove is propelled by pacey hi-hats. ‘Amplified Koma’ is a certified weapon with a sinister android vox that distorts over arrangements of mechanical drums, intensifying pads and drawn out peaks and troughs. Finally, ‘Barren Prison’ creates a dizzying sensory mêlée of iridescent melody, jazzy stabs and destructive, pounding beats.

The label operates as both a home for high profile artists and a outlet for emerging talent; striking a balance between output from Fitzpatrick, Slam, Dustin Zahn and Sasha Caressi, as well as exciting new talent like Rich Jones, Chris Colburn and ON/OFF.

The duo of Ian Dunlop and Christopher Begley are at the forefront of Techno music in Northern Ireland, having shared the same music tastes for quite some time and sharing their love for the electronic dance scene the pair got together and Vlokken was born. 

After firmly slotting themselves into the Techno community as the Dj duo Vlokken the future is looking very bright for the Irish duo.

Having hit the ground running in 2015 the pair seen their Rich Slave EP being snapped up by Arjun Vagale for his label Maktub Music and receiving huge support from a range leading artists. Having spent a lot of time in the studio perfecting their unique sound it is clean to see that they have their fingers firmly on the pulse.

When performing, Vlokken customize their sets consisting of Traktor, loops and fx, and also implementing their own live edits. 

What sets them apart is their unique approach when they are in the DJ booth controlling the music and navigating the crowd, they dont just take you from A to B but to C taking everyone on a musical journey.

A bold move and step forward for the Irish duo which will see them take their career to the next level, with mixing their deep and dubby other times bright and warm style from old school vibes mixed with new sound horizons, is a unique personal style.

This progress in the realms of dance music also inspired the fellows to advance and develop their own productions, Always trying to create a balanced but surprising mix within House and Techno. 

Vlokken and their deep and dark atmospheres create the ambiance for a more intricate mood, where complex sound landscapes grab the listeners attention, bringing the club experience to another dimension. 

With musical influences ranging from the likes of Daft Punk, Kerri Chandler, Cashmere and Alan Blex, Deetron, M.A.N.D.Y, Booka Shade, it's easy to see where the raw emotion, tension and energy prevalent in their music stems from.

The pair have went on to have some great artists remix their tracks such as Shosho, Maverickz, Da Fresh, Marcus Sur, Clawz SG to name a few. 

The pair seen their track "Anti matter" reach No.2 in in the Traxsource Top 100 Techno chart, they later went on to see it be charted No.46 in the top 200 Techno tracks of 2015.

Vlokken are definitely worth keeping a close eye on as the future is looking bright.

Bryan has become synonymous with consistently creating stripped-down, hypnotic and looped Techno. In 2017 Bryan created a outlet to fully showcase these works. Monotony was launched, and is curated by Bryan with a vision that fully creates a playground for stripped-down, deeply hypnotic, repetitive, psychedelic, linear, dark techno loops. Bryan’s attention to continually create loops that intertwine around each other with subtle yet devastating effects and automation, creating a style of Techno reminiscent of times long since passed merged with modern forward thinking Techno.
