A restless spirit, clinging to the shroud.
I see the window of a life gone by,
Where my true self was allowed to fly.
The bricks are cold, the gate is rusted shut,
I scratch the glass, but I can’t cut the rut.

A phantom promise still reflected in my eyes.

It’s a cruel exchange, this hollow, present day,
For that sweet past that simply slipped away.
