“Elegia” is a newly released EP from MACY, and it features two original mixes. “Last Train To Nowhere” immediately sets the mood with its dark, futuristic synth swells - the sound really echoes classic sci-fi tones, which wouldn’t feel out of place in the soundtrack of classic flicks such as Blade Runner. On the other hand, the beat has a modern and punchy tone, with a massive kick and an upbeat arrangement, which keeps the energy to high levels.  “Night Is Close In” follows along the same lines, although the sound veers towards a more classic feel. The beat is king here, and the rhythm immediately endows the track with a sense of motion and attitude. The bouncy bass tones and arpeggio synth layers really add to the swirling melodies of this song, merging with the smooth vocals in a very seamless way. The vocals actually really add a distinctive twist to the song, making me think of artists such as Robyn, Halsey, or Elle Goulding, only to mention but a few.

His most recent studio release, “Feel Me,” is a powerful EP, which features 3 tracks, each stretching the concept to different sonic depths.  “In The Name Of Love,” one of the most notable songs on the release, features a steady beat and some groove-centric bass lines that bring a dynamic pulse to the beat. The title track itself roars and moves with enthusiasm, due to its killer grooves and unapologetic brio. Last, but decidedly not least, “Boogie Tonight” is the fastest song on the EP. The upbeat rhythm gives a lot of edge to the release, tying the sound of the EP together, and making for a great crescendo of music.  There is something truly special about the production aesthetics of this project. “Feel Me” has a very detailed sound, and it’s apparent that a lot of dedication and hard work went into making this release truly special. ROMBE4T captured the “old school” edge of the many soul, funk, and R&B influences that fuel this release, while also retaining the clarity of his modern production style. As a result, this is a true win-win, bringing the best of two musical worlds under one roof.

June 2020 - Artist and producer Udjat recently an-nounced the release of a brand new studio single titled “Hugs,” which also features Igor Pose, who is offering a wonderful reading of one of his own po-ems. The combination of poetry and electronic music suits the soundscapes to perfection, creating a more atmospheric and one-of-a-kind sound, that has got more of an emotional feel. Although this song has a more personal vibe, it still retains the unique strength and feel that you would expect from the best deep house music. The mix has a solid fulcrum and a tight low end, while the poem fit within the balance of the track to perfection. The song brings a breath of fresh air to the deep house scene. It stays true to some of the staples of the genre, but it also feels like a more intriguing concept, especially due to the combination of expertly crafted sound design and beautiful words from the poem by Igor Pose.

MACY is a record producer and artist with a diverse sound. He often explores different genres and ideas with his music, and his most recent EP is another amazing example of what he can accomplish creatively. The new studio effort is titled “Heaven Up Here.” 

As you might be able to tell from the moment you hit the play button, MACY focuses specifically on House music for this particular EP. However, he does so in an incredibly diverse way. There are so many different influences on the EP, ranging from progressive arrangements down to melodic house and organic as well. As a result of such a distinctively kaleidoscopic approach, the artist actually managed to achieve a diverse listening experience. In addition to that, the production is at a very high level, and each song hits the mark in terms of sheer sonics. The kick drum, which is the bread and butter of House music, in my opinion, is always centered, focused, and big. Never too subby, never to click-y - It has the right tone to fill up the frequency spectrum and keep the song’s bounce alive, but without ever overpowering the other elements in the mix. The percussion elements around the backbone of the beat are all very engaging as well, particularly the hat sounds, which offer a nice, cut-through flow. The melodic content on this EP is wildly diverse as well. On songs such as “Moonlight,” the producer explores a more haunting and mesmerizing soundscape. However, things play out a bit differently on the song “People,” which has a unique rhythm that even reminds me of Afrobeat at times, particularly due to the inclusion of some organic percussion elements. The song “Deeply Love” is one of the highlights of the release. It has a pleasant old-school warmth to it, and the beat feels dry and spacious, creating a nice contrast with the atmospheric synth parts in the background, offering a nice stere depth as well. Last but not least, “Feels Like A Falling” is one of the most upbeat and energetic songs on this EP. The percussion parts are as loud and prominent as the kick drum, and the bass has a nice growl to it.
