Audioglider has always had a soft spot for the amazing Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, with their hook laden cross genre retro future pop. So when the new EP came out with the lead track Crosswalk, he just had to put his own hazy electro funk / indie dance spin on the track, ready for the dancefloor, outdoor terrace, boat party or kitchen disco. Section Records reboots and opens 2014 with the release of Audioglider's long-awaited debut album, ‘Accidental Beauty’. 

With echoes of Cocteau Twins, Nils Frahm, Boards of Canada, Nightmares On Wax and Ulrich Schnauss, Audioglider a.k.a. Roberto Sodano’s blissed out electronica has won him fans across the downtempo community – from The Big Chill through leading blogs including astrangelyisolatedplace, to DJs including Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and Glenn Morrison. 

Audioglider releases appeared on labels such as Global Underground, Morrison Recordings, Renaissance, Exceptional Records and FOEM, before finding a permanent home at Section Records, who released the ‘Summer Rainstorm EP’ in May 2013. 

‘Accidental Beauty’ is a masterpiece of cross-genre downtempo; from the cinematic opening with the ironically-named ‘End Titles’, through the subtle and intricate 21st century breakbeat of ‘Fluid Motion’ (with Florida based artist, D-Step) and ‘My Tru Blood’, via the dubbed out ‘Dynamic Uno’, the trippy beats of ‘Just Sound’, and the closing euphoria that builds from ‘Disappear’, ‘Polydirective’ (with Chicago’s Mucci) through to the beautiful, ambient closer, ‘Cortexaphan’.

Well hello there sunshine. I'm about to go into hospital for another major knee operation (other knee, same problem). In ironic fashion, I thought I'd try my hand at doing a more dance orientated mixtape. This is an old remix uncovered when looking through my old laptop, from progressive house and breaks outfit, Starecase, from Bristolian label Hope Recordings (Nick Warren is their main A&R dude). It was part of a remix contest I entered which didn't make the final cut, but I thought it still sounded good so I thought I'd bung it up here, and hopefully you'd like it. Free to download.

Highasakite's beautiful track had a great part where all the music dropped out, and the vocals shone for a short time. I used this section to build an upbeat, positive 80s flavoured progressive house tune, perfect for the beginning or end of the night.

Using the amazing @Ashal S amazing remix of @Findike track, Indian Limpa as the basis for the main track, I found an amazing acapella of Billie Eilish's haunting Listen Before I Go and with a little jiggery pokery melded them together in perfect harmony. If you like this please follow Findike Records, Ashal S and Findike, and go and buy the remix I used without the Billie Eilish vocal.

Companion track to my track Whiskers, and also appeared on GU30, Nick Warren's Paris Compilation album, on Global Underground. This track is again about 8 or 9 years old, and has never had a proper release as a single track, inspite of many requests. Title means - Alone Together - which actually sounds much more lyrical in German, nichts wahr?

Audioglider closes out the year with a progressive house reinterpretation of DJ Jean’s classic “Play that beat”. The warm, voluptuous vocals which made the track a success when it released eleven years ago are still very much to the forefront but are now elevated into a dreamier state by the synth sweeps and varied percussions. The UK-based DJ and producer also achieves to find a middle-ground between the funkiness of a bouncy bassline and continual evolution highlighted by the catchy melody coming in after the drop. One thing’s for certain, the overall joyous energy of this cut will have you craving for many more never-ending nights on the dancefloor. With all that said, there’s only one thing for you to do: Play that beat!
