6/12 - Blues Today

It was already dark when I saw a bright light through the thick mist that had settled.

As I approached with my raft, I arrived in front of an old house on stilts that shone in the darkness. Sitting on the porch, an old curved man held a flower in his hands, scrutinizing the water with a sad look.
I asked him if everything was okay ...
He replied without lifting his gaze from the river that his pet alligator, which was floating on the surface of the water, had just died.

He began to sing. I recorded him.

7/12 - Tap Dance

A regular snap noise woke me up from my nap.
I disembarked of my wooden raft and went to take a look at the origin of this strange sound...

I was stunned to find out that it was a pair of tap shoes, slapping all alone against the wet ground. Looking closer, I saw on the water the reflection of a person who seemed to wear these shoes while moving in rhythm.

While trying to regain my senses, I recorded the sound of this crazy tap dancing.

8/12 - Lost Nomads

Strident cries broke the silence that reigned on the river until that moment.
In a fraction of a second, I found myself surrounded by a horde of nomads on their camels, screaming Tuareg songs.

They took me down from my raft and brought me to a desert plain on the other side of the hills.

I told them about my journey and we all sang together...

9/12 - Music Fills Your Soul

As the night fell, my raft was stopped by a strange old man standing in the river.
He was dressed in yellow and his face had colourful paint marks. He slowly approched near to me, and covered my face with his thick hands.

He began to sing: "Hang up all your worries, let the music fill your soul" while I was in a trance.

A great moment that I fortunately was able to capture on my tape recorder ...

10/12 - Make Time For Your Dreams

As I admired the magnificent sunset on the horizon, my raft entered a collision with a tree in the middle of the river.
I climbed to the top and saw a man standing on the highest branch and scanning the sky through a telescope.

Without even looking at me, he told me that life was too short and that we should live out our dreams as long as there is still time.

11/12 - Gonna Make You Dance

I felt that I was at the end of my journey. The river was becoming more and more narrower and my tape recorder was already filled with sounds.

As I left my raft to get something to eat in the arid plain, I saw a powerful young woman in front of me, singing something like "I'm gonna make you dance, on the floor." 

All of a sudden, my arms and legs duplicated and I began to dance without being able to control anything.

12/12 - You Don't Know Love

My recorder's tape was almost full and my mind filled with memories of my journey. The river I was descending reached its end by throwing itself into a large expanse of water, of which I could not even see the horizon.

As I sailed through the fog, I saw a young woman in the river, a few yards from me. She was singing to me in a low voice: "you do not know love", before disappearing under water.

This melody is the last one I captured and so ended my journey along this strange river.
