Back by popular demand, here's a brand new study mix. I changed up the style a bit compared to that of the first mix, selecting tracks with a bit of a deeper, more progressive feel and placed more of an emphasis on the breaks. The goal is to create a mix that is nice to have playing in the background while you're studying. Soft synths, pleasing melodies, no vocals to distract you, and a driving beat to keep you focused should get you in the zone and complete whatever it is you need. October 2013 - Just finished finals of my first module in med school and am feeling great. I put this mix together full of tracks that when I hear them I think, "Wow, this is 'seriously good'" and that make me close my eyes and smile, even as lame as that sounds. Some are happy and blissful while some are more melancholic and heartbreaking but for me, the result is the same. Close Your Eyes & Smile part 1 (2013)

I wanted to make a tune using only hardware (the Korg MS-20 Mini synth and Electribe ER-1 drum machine) and I love the little four beat melody on the A-side of Population One's A Simpler Form and have wanted to do something with it for some time now so I was able to combine the two projects into this. The back-to-back set is one of the coolest concepts for me in music. Two people with potentially completely different styles get together and see what happens. My good friend Dan and I were both leaving for travels all over the country the next morning so we decided to spend a few hours of our last day jamming to whatever tunes we felt like (fun trivia: this also happened about an hour after I finished recording Close Your Eyes 3. How else was I going to spend my last day?). Since nothing's ever as fun as when you're under pressure, we obviously recorded it. Two different styles, it was a blast feeding off each other's energy and working together to see if we could get along. We start out like a great, chill, techy, opening set, and end... not that way. A spectacular morning.

This was my guest mix for the Beatdown Krew (based out of the wonderful Dallas, TX) podcast way back in the day. I'm still incredibly proud of how it turned out.
