Jamie Prado - I Got You (Original Mix) [Perfect Driver Music]


Growing up in the bustling music scene of London, Aaron Snapes championed old school hip hop, drum and bass, trance, and garage before house music eventually took over. Never one to get caught up in the compartmentalization of genres though, Aaron has a simple and easy guideline in the studio, “I just want to make fun, groovy music for people to dance to.” Further detailing his musical canvas with his imaginative music, Aaron keeps bodies movin’ and beats jackin’ as he returns to Perfect Driver Music for the On It EP out on December 8th.

“On It” will surprise you at the beginning of the extended player with its borrowed minor keys and will then delight you with an attention to detail that sprinkles percussion in triplet form overtop shuffling claps and snares. Up next is “Know You Better” whose bassline bounces like a guttural bayonet and then leads you to rising melodies that melt into detuned menagerie. On the remix tip, Treasure Fingers brings trouble and midrange bass with his edit of “On It” while Jay Robinson reconstructs the melody’s chord structure. Closing out the remixes (and the EP entirely) is Eyes Everywhere’s version of “On It” with a back-to-basics nature, impacting harder than one might first think.

Whether he’s bringing the space bass or vibing with the Amsterdam underground, for 2014 Aaron Snapes is
definitely on it.

At Perfect Driver, we proudly champion those on track to the top. Denver-based Housewife is one of them. With several releases on hau5trap under her belt, she caught our attention via her Out Of Body EP. She tapped into a trippy and techy portal, which resulted in two dark bangers suitable for peak-hour sets and after-hour shenanigans. Housewife explains, "On the first track, "One Pill," I experimented with some eerie synth melodies, and on the second track, "Technicolor," I came across a 1950s interview of a housewife participating in an LSD experiment. I then manipulated the vintage audio recording, forming a unique narrative twist. Embracing the party-favor vibe, I wanted these tracks to create an exhilarating, out-of-body trip for everyone on the dancefloor." We think she did just that. For the second drop this year on the L.A. based imprint, DJ Godfather is lending his four on the floor talents to Perfect Driver Music, this time for his Freaky extended player. Unrelenting basslines and 808s may cause dance floors to freak as the record comes out on September 30th.

"Freaky" jumpstarts the EP with some special "cuts" from DJ Deeon before layering NSFW lyrics over a guttural, rumbling bassline that'll definitely put booties to work. Up next is "Yeah Baby," a collab with fellow Detroit resident Doug English featuring smooth vocals from Six Foe that commands you to drop it low to the ground - an easy request given the track's punchy drum kicks and bouncy subs.

Recently our demo inbox has been overflowing so we cleared it out, selected the best of the best and created a new compilation series called Traffic Jams. Anyone who's visited our home city of Los Angeles understands the struggle. We could let it get the best of us, or rather, choose to celebrate by cranking up the system. Even in a complete standstill on the 101! 

The series name itself is a fun one that was crowd-sourced on Matthew Anthony's social pages. With some great runners-up like Road Rage, Cruise Control, Riders On The Storm and D.U.I. (Dancing Under the Influence), ultimately the winning title in most peoples eyes was Traffic Jams, coming from our guy Travis Emmons, an artist we previously released a few years back, and again today on PDM099. 

The compilation offers an array of Tech House tracks. There's a few new artists to Perfect Driver including Skinnybit, More Than Friends with OMNOM, Mancodex, Dking, DJ Susan, AYAREZ as well as some favs like A Fox, Travis Emmons, Holt 88 and Matthew Anthony.

We just turned One Hundred! For the drivers who’ve been exploring music with us since the beginning and to those just getting started, en route to perfection, we thank you from the bottom of our trunks. 

Hustling in Los Angeles: The road here was interesting as we reflect on the imprint being conceived a whopping ‘One Hundred’ releases ago in 2012. It was a simple way for Matthew Anthony to put out his own version of house music. Being the chief operator behind the scenes, the project consumed him becoming a devoted passion, slowly building one release at a time at an average rate of one every third week. A similar schedule to bigger brands with larger teams, the work was done in his free time, apart from touring and working various projects and/or full-time roles. Here we are all these years (and songs) later, Perfect Driver is going stronger than ever.

The label would be nothing of coarse, without the talented artists contributing their music and the dedicated fans showing up to our events. Whether it’s California or Florida, Michigan or Hawaii, London or San Francisco, our friends and supporters have graciously enabled and promoted the Perfect Driver sound on the best dance floors and radio shows world-wide. We feel that so many of our artists “should” be on this compilation and narrowing it down to these few was no easy task, but we asked around online and at shows, then coupled fan favorites with the most downloaded songs and we came up with this, PDM100.

To mention a few, Bruno Furlan's recent releases have blessed the catalogs of Dirtybird, Relief, This Ain’t Bristol and Sony. We love the guy, not only for his music, but his down-to-earth attitude, work ethic and all around positive vibes. A role model to follow for new and old artists alike. Work hard, foster those relationships and stay in touch throughout the year. Even when on the go.

Our last formal encounter with the Brazilian was in January where he kicked off Perfect Driver's 2018 release schedule with his single "Butterfly." The track has done well for Bruno in North America so we're all excited to team up on this next EP. Dedicated to stateside highways and byways, yes, the Stop The Car EP is all about those cherished rides. Stopping them and hitting them to be precise. As we expect, both "Stop The Car" and "What A Hit Is That" chug along in Bruno's signature funky style with flawless sound design and ridiculously fun effects to convey his ideals to your dancefloors. We would like to be the first independent dance music record label to take our show on the road. Literally. With help from supporters, label-head Matthew Anthony will be customizing a Sprinter Van to pick up artists in one city to play shows in the next while remote operating the label in an ongoing Perfect Driver tour. Our goal is to give Perfect Driver artists and fans a one of a kind experience. A #VanLife styled road trip where the DJ plays shows in big cities, small towns and everywhere in between, all while producing music in a mobile recording studio. Picture the Perfect Driver high-top Sprinter Van at a local art show or skate park with artists performing from the back. Or our #DJsAndCooking web-series broadcasting live from festivals. Imagine pit stops in National Parks while documenting artist & industry conversations on YouTube or Patreon for subscribers. Our plan includes playing quarterly shows in major markets.

If you're a Perfect Driver artist, we want to bring you on the road. If you're a show promoter or venue, we want to talk about working together.
