Our next guests are friends & past guests artists of our brother label @PuzzleProjectsMusic mix series and one of our favourite producer duos due to their infectious brand of funky, Jackin, Deep, disco-charged house music & authentic, no bullsh*t vibe.

Marcus Shimshon & Simon Slattery AKA Filta Freqz met in the late eighties, immediately discovering they had shared passion for the Hip Hop movement that had filtered over to the UK from the USA in the early '80s, this mutual passion extended to Electro, street art, breakdancing & scratching & the music coming out from these cultures that leaned on the genres of Funk, Jazz, Disco, Soul, Dub & Reggae so cleverly.

As the 90s approached, the lads played & raved through the iconic acid house scene, which then led them onto a clear path carving out & mastering their much-lauded, trademark sound over the next 3 decades.

The prolific duo have released their music & remixes on countless top labels including the world-class Defected records, the brilliant Mood Funk Records & their own excellent imprints Seventy Four Records and Flight Digital, their music has been supported & played at major shows by everyone from Marco Carola to Purple Disco Machine.

Also a seasoned selector for over a decade, DaveJ has performed at shows across the UK at venues including @EggLondon, @93FeetEast, and Warehouse. The native Essex artist is also a member of the progressive Chelmsford event brand USpeople.

The Andfriends Project was born out of a love for dance music's early roots. 

Andfriends is always looking for those solid gems that have stood the test of time, Whether it be a contemporary take on a disco classic, nostalgic piano stabs of the 90s or a psychedelic guitar solo worked over a House bassline.

For over 4 years now, Andfriends has been broadcasting Nu Disco & House music out of a dingy basement over the airwaves on CHLY 101.7 FM every Thursday night between 8-10 PM PST. This allows Andfriends to explore dance music’s history and tailor his DJ sets with the best track selections.

Laydee V AKA Veronika began DJ’ing in Sydney, Australia. On moving to London, UK, she started spinning at clubs in London which led to her being requested to perform at established venues such as Ministry of Sound, Pacha, White House, The Egg and Jessie Mara & Linda Farrow fashion shows. 

This led to opportunities for Veronika to perform in Ibiza, Bermuda, San Francisco, Spain, Romania, Mauritius, Mexico, NYC and her home country Czech Republic and sharing the bill with acclaimed DJ names such as Art Department, East End Dubs, Steve Lawler, Eats Everything, Bob Sinclair, Sasha and many more.

On the production front, after releases on a few European labels, Veronika started a record label of her own called Platform 7even in 2014, followed by sub-label PL7 aiming to be a platform for up-and-coming and established producers from around the globe. The label has received rave reviews from big names such as Richie Hawtin, Butch, Robert Babicz, Steve Bug, Mihai Popoviciu, Markus Homm and more.

Carlisle-native, Evan Beattie was surrounded by music and creativity from a young age - his father is a singer-songwriter and his mother is a writer. These priceless influences naturally led him down a creative path. 

As soon as he started going to raves, Evan was hooked and began putting a steely focus into DJ’ing & producing, forming the event brand Picasso Events and playing regularly in the city.

His production output now boasts a strongly defined brand of peak-time Tech House music, incorporating influences of Minimal, Garage and Tribal genres.

Back in 2021, Evan released ‘Da Congaz’ EP on our brother label @HOT-GROOVERS and also has a forthcoming single ‘DOT DOT DOT’ out in May.

Real name – Jamie Boxall, the now Cornwall, UK-based artist grew up between Germany and UK and was spoon-fed a diet of hard house and techno from his parents whilst studying music theory.

After learning to play piano and violin. Early adult years saw BOXA began to DJ at local nightclubs, realising a clear raw passion for Techno music and all sub-genres between. 

Only last year did he begin studying music production and creating his sound on an MPC and AKAI MPK at home. Heavily inspired by special artists like Maya Jane Coles, Nina Kraviz and Daria Kolosova - a big focus went into crafting heavy drums, melody hooks and quirky sampling of childhood computer games, the end sound floating between dark-tinged peak-time Minimal and driving Techno.

BOXA’s first releases are out on our sister label @HOT-GROOVERS next month via the two singles ‘BANDICOOT’ and ‘SALTY’.

Jake made a regular appearance at Fabric in the past year alongside; Joseph Capriati, Lilly Palmer, Kölsch, Silverlining, Archie Hamilton, Craig Richards, Alan Fitzpatrick & many more. He also holds a DJ residency for both Superfreq + FUMP and has played with the legendary Wiggle crew for their unforgettable anniversary at The Cause.

Luisfer Lopez is a DJ and producer from Madrid, Spain specialising in Afro House and Tech House music.

The 35 year old has a string of accomplished productions in his discography, positioning himself in the top 100 of Afro House on major download platforms.

Luisfer’s journey in music started as a percussionist, this developed into being enchanted with flamenco rhythms and world music of the 80s/90s/00s, that is so clearly present in his current and infectiously deep sound.

The resident DJ of ‘Sesion Chakra’, Luisfer has also performed in venues such as Amsterdam Club Underground, Habanna Club, Om Potitos, Extradited, Sala Nazca, Soniquete Matinal, Hangar 48 and many more.

11A! AKA Tom & James are a multi-genre production & DJ duo from Dublin, Ireland.

Since their teens, the pair have both been passionate about & heavily involved within music. From starting out originally in a band together, which then evolved into their love of DJ’ing & exploring various genres of electronic music (predominately House, Tech House and Techno).

This led to their production journey starting in 2021, within a matter of months 11A! had self-released their first track, sparking the fuse to create more music. Soon after they signed their first ever original track with Njoy Music UK record label.

This followed with tracks signed with Vassnova, Cleveland City Records, City of Drums label, Router Music & Red Channel Records.

The pair also DJ within the Dublin underground scene at various events.
