DJ set for Detached Audio - Segments: Section Two EP release party [02-OCT-2022]

Released as part of the Remix The Ting campaign for Elijah & Jammz's 'Make The Ting' album. Been a big fan of the yellow squares that Elijah has been doing for a bit now, and when I saw an opportunity to get involved I went for it. Ended up going a bit heavier and less wonky than recent work, but that's part of the fun doing something like this. Knocked together a contribution for the inaugural @deepdarkdangerous collaborative project @truthdubstep put together. 

Used a fair bit of the sample pack they uploaded, but had to manipulate them before I'd use them. I liked the idea of the depths of the ocean, and think that I pushed some of the sounds in the direction of bubbles and gases escaping an air tank.

Also threw in a couple other new sounds, and even recorded some shakers for one section. Noticed some things I need to work on for future tracks, but this was a good exercise and I think I picked up some new ideas from writing this. Can upload the project to Splice if there is interest.

Over the course of his career, He’s performed at legendary events like Buzz, Ultraworld, Resonate, Eklektic, Platinum, Respect, Elements, and Cadence, and crafted mixes for Toronto’s iconic Prophecy FM and Winslow’s Bad Snares Anonymous. As a producer, he’s released music on such labels as Moving Shadow, Ohm Resistance, Soul Deep, Detached Audio, 1 More Thing, WiddFam, and 4 Corners Music, and worked with a number of artists, including Sinthetix, Corrupt Souls, UFO!, Ben Rolo, Fake, Dvalue and Metcalf. With decades of work under his belt, and a decidedly individual take on the drum & bass sound, R4NS0M continues to cement one of the more unique legacies in the history of the genre as a creator and pioneer.
