Scene legend Sovereign drops the first remix, twisting up the original into a heavyweight low-end monster that packs a lot of punch into it’s running time. The mysterious UNKWN brings the heat on the second remix, flipping the title track into a pitch-perfect UKG roller that will get the crowd bubbling.

Rounding off the package, Wisk enlists the talents of infamous producer Beat for a retro-futurist take on the 90s rave sound, complete with thunderous breakbeats and cavernous bass for a true warehouse anthem.

‘Phonecall’ is a dazzling mix of garage, grime and synthwave, extrapolating the core energies from each genre to create something unique in it’s own right. Melancholy keys wash over skeletal percussion to produce a mood that immediately transports you into a cyberpunk fantasy.

Angus Green flips the original 4x4 action of Eximius ‘So Good’ into a sparkling 2-Step rhythm perfect for laid-back sunday sessions.

Earthnut deliver a sense of playfulness in their mutation of Kazumi Anazai’s deep cut ‘Beehive’, creating a rolling percussive monster in the process.

Kells displays his inimitable style on Royal Flush’s fan favourite ‘Need You’, opting for a stripped-back 4x4 banger that will heat up any dance- floor.

Aaron Danks brilliantly flips Angus Green’s discofied original ‘Got To Leave’ into a speed garage warper that is everything you want from that description, and more.

Fork and Knife adds a dash of grime to his take on label-mate Phonetix ‘Lighting Fires’, pulling out all the stops to deliver a refix that packs a sonic punch.

Slime is proud to present the debut album from the accomplished producer Hoffman. A respected veteran on the breaks scene for many years, Hoffman has cultivated a sound that is uniquely his own; tough breakbeats provide the muscle whilst cinematic melodies pump the blood. During recent experimentations to refine his sound, elements of garage filtered in – which is when Slime took note. Last year saw the release of the sublime ‘Pieces’ EP on the imprint, and from there the gauntlet was laid down to produce an album that expanded the widescreen feel of his productions into a longer narrative.

The result of this year-long labour is ‘Serenity’, containing eleven incredible tracks that fuse the spirit of breaks, garage, jungle, rave and electronica into a satisfyingly coherent whole. The mood is set from the outset with the drifting chords and subtle vocal wash of opener ‘First Light’, a template that is consistently revised and mutated into stunning new forms on tracks like ‘Shuffle Back’ and ‘Suburban Playground’, full of plaintive atmospherics, twisting percussion and pulsating bass. 

Hoffman’s innate ability with percussive intricacy comes to the fore in album namesake ‘Serenity’, brimming with autonomic beats and percolating rhythms. This talent to fuse styles into something altogether more sonically fascinating is displayed on dark roller ‘Twitch’ or the gorgeous groove resplendent throughout album closer ‘Let the Vibe’. That virtuosity comes into its own when matched with the lyrical dexterity of Daytripper on ‘Think About The Time’ and ‘Solace’, both of which stun with their combination brooding, melancholy ambience and heartfelt lyricism.

The spectre of rave music’s heritage is ever present throughout, none more so than in the euphoric chords and rapturous vocals of Kitty Stewart on ‘Choose Your Moment’, equally in effect on her other outstanding contribution ‘Crawling’, which will send a chill down even the most resolute spine. The album works as a subdued reflection on a golden era of experimentation, yet is permeated with a thrilling sense of freshness; the juxtaposition of then and now in a harmonious synergy which will electrify synapses and move minds.

Slime is proud to unveil the second single from the debut album by Hoffman. Since joining us on the label last year, he has delivered his unique hybrid of garage, breaks and electronica with the sublime ‘Pieces’ EP, as well as his incendiary collaboration ‘For You I Did’ with Swedish producer Materia for the ‘Move Your Mind’ LP. There was no doubt in our mind we wanted him to explore the cinematic aesthetic of his sound in deeper detail, and so we set him the task of crafting an album that would showcase his abilities to the world.

‘Serenity’ is the instrumental title track from the album, which has been mutated from its emotion-drenched original form into an epic vocal anthem thanks to the sublime talents of singer Lauren Neko. Neko’s breathless delivery provides the perfect counterpoint to the thunderous bass and gorgeous chords that underpin the beat.

Slime welcomes American producer Nymbus to the label. With a string of celebrated tracks to his name across the deeper end of garage and drum & bass, his reputation has been building in each respective scene for some time now. For his debut release on the imprint he delivers two stunning examples of his craftsmanship in liquid drum & bass, backed up by a pair of killer garage remixes from his fellow label-mates Blackboxx and Aaron Static.

‘Silica’ drifts into a view on a melodic wave of melancholy chords and ethereal vocals before pulling you into its sublime undertow, replete with rolling basslines and finely-cut drum work. Striking a perfect balance of light and space throughout the track, it evokes hazy summer nights cast against starlit skies – a simply gorgeous slice of emotional music that is uniquely powerful.

‘Obsidian’ follows a similar path to the former track but amplifies the resonance with jazz-tinged elements and a tougher roll-out on the drums. Razor-sharp bass stabs combine with sweeping melodies, offering up a cinematic feel that recalls the early works of liquid producers on Metalheadz or Moving Shadow.

Edinburgh producer Blackboxx steps up for the first of two remixes of ‘Silica’, extrapolating the elements of the original track and mutating them into a chilled garage odyssey, and further cementing his position as one of the most exciting garage producers around. Australian production veteran Aaron Static shows off his technical expertise with a jaw-dropping re-mould of the original into a seven-minute epic that bridges the genre gap between garage, breaks and neuro with remarkable results.

Slime Recordings is proud to present ‘Taking Me Over’, the debut EP from Bristol-based trio 4th Project. 

4th Project make downtempo ambient electro pop. Using a core of vocals, keyboards and guitars, the trio build their expansive sound with an electronic palette of drums, synths and sub bass. Formed in Bristol in 2015 by Kathleen Fitzpatrick Milton (vocals), Jack Drewry (keyboard) and Rowan Evans (guitar), 4th Project are currently working on a series of releases with Slime Recordings.

Lead track ‘Taking Me Over’ is that rare form of sonic alchemy which seems so elusive in music today. By uniting Kathleen’s emotive and intimate vocal delivery with Jack and Rowan’s gorgeous production, the band creates a memento of a broken relationship that is both heart-crushing and redemptive in turn; the song soars further into bliss with each passing note, beguiling the listener in increasingly mysterious ways.

‘Right Here’ brings the tempo up a touch with a hypnotic take on low-slung funk. The band takes flight across glittering percussion and seductive bass, merging perfectly with Kathleen’s captivating vocals and providing an enthralling retort to the former song’s story of love and loss. 

Garage and Dubstep royalty Enigma Dubz steps up for the lead remix with a spell-binding take on ‘Right Here’, transporting Kathleen’s vocals into a shimmering paradise of deep garage ecstasy. Delicate keys and subtle chords  drift across a laconic 2-step groove before being underpinned with a cavernous bassline that drives the whole track forward with a melancholy momentum, building into something truly cinematic in it’s scope.

Australian production powerhouse Aaron Static is the first to adapt ‘Taking Me Over’, stripping back the track to it’s core essentials with mesmerizing results. By slowly layering elements over a downtempo beat and letting the vocal breathe, he draws out the magic of the original song through new and enchanting paths.

Scottish label-mate Blackboxx takes an equally austere approach with his take on the lead track, giving the vocal space to roam across a broken beat odyssey. Equal parts autonomic and garage, the hotly-tipped producer once again proves he’s one to watch for the future.

Label veteran SPD delivers an ambitious re-moulding of the original with an uptempo dub house rhythm, mutating the vocal into new shapes across bubbling basslines and darkly evocative synth washes that will make perfect sense on a dancefloor at 4am.

One of the hottest new UKG production units steps up for a remix on the lead track. ‘Real’ is the kind of old-skool hardcore joint that could have come straight from an unearthed DAT tape circa 1992. Hi-NRG piano arpeggios are strapped to a thundering 4x4 kick-drum with a dash of jungle on top, for an absolutely face-melting warehouse weapon that is so authentic to the golden era of rave you can practically smell the Vicks Vaporub.

‘How Can I Let You Go’ mines a similar vein with it’s soaring diva vocals and rough breakbeat exoskeleton encasing a cavernous, skull-splitting bassline that takes you on a ride to the darkside with it’s sinister melodies and atonal LFO bleeps.

The inimitable MKII steps up on remix duties to round things off with a blistering take on the title track, mutating the original into a breakbeat roller complete with grime-flavoured orchestral stabs, flowing piano lines and a symphonic flourish that will have you sweating serotonin in a nanosecond.
