The influential Ukrainian duo ARTBAT has been enlisted to bring their unique melodic sounds to a new remix of Röyksopp's 2005 smash ‘What Else Is There?’ The iconic original has been streamed 10s of millions of times and ARTBAT are contemporary electronic tastemakers with a global fanbase, so this is a perfect pairing of two musical giants.

Despite only starting to work together in 2015, ARTBAT has played to tens of thousands of people at festivals all over the world, had their faces on giant billboards, and been Beatport’s biggest selling artists for the last two years. The prolific pair have a put out a steady stream of high quality, always innovative sounds including hit remixes of Monolinks’s Return To Oz and Sono’s Keep Control, which both charted for more than 12 months at a time. As well as collaborations with Sailor & I, CamelPhat, Dino Lenny, WhoMadeWho, Matador and Rafael Cerato, the pair's solo work is always both accessible and melodic yet forward-facing and innovative.

Retaining the iconic vocals of Fever Ray and The Knife frontwoman Karin Dreijer, ARTBAT’s fantastic new remix of 'What Else Is There?' transforms the classic Nordic chug of Röyksopp’s original into the type of high drama big room house music they’re renowned for.

Pete Tong has confirmed a BBC Radio 1 play on the day of release and this essential new track will feature on a new playlist curated by the band highlighting their biggest remixes.

This is another huge release for ARTBAT, who continue to redefine their own unique sound with each fantastic new outing.

"Moon" is an electroacoustic composition that combines live manipulation of voice, piano and violin that moves through a self-generative patch in Max/Msp, the sound of which is further manipulated in Ableton Live.

Narrated by vocal artist Myrto Stylou, her text for the Moon was created and manipulated live on a Full Moon ritual during the first lockdown of the Covid-19 pandemic in Athens, Greece.
Our evening meditation's energetic field and ‘The Moon’ Tarot card brought transparency and the inspiration for a performance piece that combines organic elements with ideas of space weightlessness, integrating our feelings of discomfort and uncertainty in combination with the shift of our whole everyday life into the internet and the digital screen.

Finding our gradual healing process through our live performance, the technology of Max/Msp yielded ways to create a sound using filtered impulses and modulating delays that could then generate healing feedback overtones based on Pythagorean frequencies and tuning.
A midi keyboard could randomise partial numbers which multiplied these overtones, thus changing frequency rates. Connecting the patch into Ableton Live, incoming signal recordings were added to the Sampler, which allowed different recordings to generate a self-evolving synth. All these various midi sources could provide further melodic modulation and extreme levels of feedback effects. 

The Moon has a light and a dark side and floats into the endless matter of our solar system. 
Connecting with our inner consciousness, we align with our everyday reality but never give up on the search for universal awareness and origin.
