Like bathing in a dark room full of heavy atmosphere, Andrew Cesarz’s debut project is an immersive musical introspection — energizing, disarming, and cathartic all at the same time.

From a classical and jazz foundation, the pianist-producer wandered into an improvised music residency with his friends in the dive bars of Riverwest, Milwaukee. The strange, surprising blends of rock, soul, folk, gospel, Afro-Cuban, R&B, and pop they discovered led Cesarz to begin making music of his own.

Written by a young adult overwhelmed by the myriad of choices to make after college, his bedroom pop-rock songs feature dense, harmonically rich arrangements propelled by cinematic build-ups, intoxicating rhythms, and approachable lyrics that tell stories about finding strength when faced with relationship challenges, loss, and matters of personal and generational identity.

A loose affiliation of instrumentalists dedicated to The Groove.

Although primarily instrumental in nature, a just machine is always open to lyrical ideas although at the time of writing all of A Just Machine's work is devoid of vocal content.
