Bayna Bayn is Sharq’s debut album, Sharq, a band which was formed back in the beginnings of 2006 in Amman, in an attempt to modernize and develop oriental music in a way that would preserve the music’s authenticity, yet, give it a fresh and new sound. With some of the best musicians in the region, and two vocalists (Male & Female) who beautifully sing Arabic pieces of lyrics and poems by some of the world’s prominent writers. The album includes pieces that are considered excellent examples of the fusion of the past and future, such as the Arabic classic Ajibtu “I Wondered,” a Sufi poem by Mansour Al Hallaj (AD857-AD922), and original compositions such as “Bayna Bayn” by Tareq Al Jundi.

لم تأتِ.
قلتُ: ولن .. إذاً
سأعيد ترتيب المساء بما يليق بخيبتي
وغيابها:
أطفأت نور شموعها،
أشعلتُ نور الكهرباء،
شربتُ كأس نبيذها وكسرته
أبدلتُ موسيقى الكمنجات السريعة
بالأغاني الفارسية.

قلتُ: لن تأتي. سأنضو ربطة العنق الأنيقة
(هكذا أرتاح أكثر)
أرتدي بيجامة زرقاء. أمشي حافيا لو شئتُ.
أجلسُ بارتخاء القرفصاء على أريكتها
فأنساها
وأنسى كلّ أشياء الغياب.

أعدتُ ما أعددتُ من أدوات حفلتنا
إلى أدراجها. وفتحتُ كلّ نوافذي وستائري
لا سرّ في جسدي أمام الليل إلاّ
ما انتظرتُ وما خسرتُ.

سخرتُ من هوسي بتنظيف الهواء لأجلها
(عطرته برذاذ ماء الورد والليمون)
لن تأتي ..
سأنقل نبتة الأوركيد من جهة اليمين إلى اليسار
لكي أعاقبها على نسيانها..

غطّيتُ مرآة الجدار بمعطفٍ كي لا أرى إشعاع صورتها
فأندم

قلتُ: أنسى ما اقتبستُ لها
من الغزل القديم، لأنها لا تستحقّ قصيدة
حتى ولو مسروقة ..

ونسيتها، وأكلتُ وجبتي السرعة واقفاً
وقرأتُ فصلاً من كتاب مدرسيّ
عن كواكبنا البعيدة
وكتبتُ كي أنسى إساءتها، قصيدة

كتبتُ هذي القصيدة!
