Ouch. Summer's over and we're left with a UV hangover and a Club Mate-sized hole in our nogs. Luckily, Allergy Season has the cure: "Triptan" -- four tracks of tangled tech by Head Hurts. Perfect for the back to school blues.

Head Hurts is Martti Kalliala, the Berlin-based producer who, along with Ville Haimala, forms the delirious duos Amnesia Scanner and the late Renaissance Man. In 2010 Martti started deconstructing and reconstructing house and techno tracks with lacerated layers: clips of clips and rips of rips. Finnish-born Kalliala is also an architect -- there's a creative destruction in these retrofits, as if you decimated a row of Soviet tower blocs, and built a freaky playground from the rubble. The result is a DJ toolbox for DJ's who speak DJ: morphing, shifting, jilted shapes that slice through the air--grazing classic dance but staying just out of reach.

"Triptan" by Head Hurts will be out on Allergy Season on September 25th, and available at your local pharmacy.

@westcoast-goddess is a new alias of a Berlin-based producer that has previously released on labels like 100% Silk, Omena, Heart To Heart and Peach Discs under the alias Videopath. Under the new alias Westcoast Goddess, he goes on a spiritual journey to explore soulful and classic house sounds.

New Belgian based label @penelopemusicbe drops the debut release "Truth Rainbow" which has already seen early support coming in from Tensnake, Shanti Celeste, and Marquis Hawkes.

DJ Linus joins Nordic Trax with the Oxygen EP. The legendary Munich producer and dj steps up with a three- track ep of deep, techy house jams for the discerning listener. Subtle hooks with first class production are layered over snapping beats to deliver a driving ep aimed straight at the dancefloor.
Our good friend Linus has been a dj since the ‘80s and started releasing his own productions in the mid-‘90s. After beginning with a string of stand-out releases on the Compose imprint from Compost, he went on to run his own labels Exun (‘99 to ‘09) and subsequently Sujet Musique, which he still runs to this day. He’s also had releases on Get Physical, Gigolo, Loudeast, Go Deeva and Brique Rouge to name a few.
With upwards of one hundred releases and countless remixes, Linus has built a loyal following among the underground faithful. And while it’s hard to highlight one release from his discography, there are a couple that stand above. The 1996 track KB’s Groove (Compose) is notably a favourite of the one & only Danny Tenaglia; and 2001’s Who Stole The Soul (Exun) was a massive hit with worldwide support that spawned several remixes and re-issues. Both are on regular rotation these days as a new generation discover the quality & depth of the ‘90s true innovators – DJ Linus being one.
DJ Linus is a resident at Pacha in Munich, where he has been for 16 years – some run in the club scene! As well as holding it down at the iconic Palais afterhours, he has toured the globe with stops at Fabric, Sub Club, Cocoon and Ministry of Sound along the way. Outside the club can find him teaching production and deejaying at Germany’s biggest school for electronic music.

Unlimited Capacities is a song inspired by the 1982 Grace Jones track "Unlimited Capacities for Love", I've always had the bass line in my head since I first heard the original and wanted to take it in a house music direction with eerie synths and Rhodes. I decided to get DJ Spinna to do the remix for the album after he spun an incredible set on the Niteshift Yacht party last year.


Artist Bio: JUAN HOERNI 
Juan Hoerni; DJ, producer, remixer, began his career, unknowingly in 1988 at Upstairs Records where he purchased his first 12" record. Born in San Francisco, California, of Swiss/French and Mexican background, his love for House Music grew out of Disco and early Eighties dance music. It was in 1993 when Juan bought his first pair of technique 1200's and began working on his craft of mixing. His influences at this time were dj's Pete Avila (on of the main men responsible for breaking house music in Northern California), Doc Martin, Julius Papp, and the infamous DJ's Jeno and Garth of the Wicked crew. In 1998, he moved to the bay area and landed an assistant producer job for 106.1FM where he helped Lawrence Petty aka Foxxee Brown, David Harness, Patrick Wilson, and Pete Avila run "Yo Mama's House," a 4 hour house music show that brought in legendary guest dj's such as Danny Teneglia and Louie Vega to the greater bay area audience. In 1999, Juan moved to Los Angeles to begin his promotion company; Cha Cha Project, and his new record label, Cha Cha Recordings. Cha Cha Project was formed by Juan in order to bring world-renowned deep house dj's on a weekly basis to Los Angeles. Since then he has been running Niteshift (which has enjoyed great success) along with co-promoter Joseph Munguia. Juan has successfully brought his dj, producing career to new heights with a discography of over 30 original tracks that he produced, for labels such as Vega Records, Large Music, WAX, and his own Cha Cha Recordings. Juan brings a style of Deep, Latin, and moody house to the tables and the studio and is also known for his obscure and tasty selection of classics. Artist Bio: DJ Spinna

Turning heads throughout the industry, Spinna’s sonics soon infiltrated numerous genres. Tapped by everyone from Mary J. Blige, to Motown Records for his brilliant Michael Jackson remix of “We’re Almost There”. It’s here his production presence would flourish greatly, as Spinna would go on to revive and revise Jazz and Soul marvels like Donald Byrd, Eddie Kendricks, Betty Carter, Roy Ayers and Al Jarreau. Though it goes without saying his most memorable remix goes to his monumental version of Shaun Escoffery’s “Days Like This”, transforming it into a worldwide dance floor anthem. Which in turn, catapulted Spinna into his now stately touted presence in the soulful house music scene. These releases resulted in the signing to BBE records in 2002 where Spinna released his cult classic fulllength production LP “Here To There” which crossed multiple genres and garnered the attention of serious music fans worldwide.

PREMIERE : Juan Hoerni - Unlimited Capacities (Dj Spinna Remix)

Matthew Bailey and Carl Schilde play fully improvised music oscillating somewhere between bingo hall Casio suites and kosmische dreamscapes. The duo perform under the name Playdate, and are sometimes accompanied by 90s instructional videos, larger than life amateur dancers, and outdated light shows. 

Last summer, they travelled to a remote cabin on Manitoulin Island and recorded their debut album in two days, improvised live onto stereo cassette tape. They ceremoniously recorded two 30 minute tape sides each morning, afternoon and night, surrounded by insect drones, forest breezes and lapping waves. Manitoulin Tapes is the distillation of that bucolic experience. Like the mutable remote island environment, the recordings are sometimes warm and pastoral, like an Algonquin Cluster, at other times somber and brooding, like Sympathy Nervous, Pan Sonic or Cabaret Voltaire inspired by the Group of Seven rather than Dada.
