Exposure 072 - Sweaty Mushroom Songs (6.24.22)

The launch of the Webb telescope is a monumental leap for space exploration, and will give scientists a better view of our neighbors and a clearer window of the past. Given how shit 2022 has been, the images coming from the gold dish are a welcome distraction. As is this music.
When I recorded this set, I was struck by how spacey the sounds are in this 2022 NuTrance revival goodie bag that is coming from small labels across the globe. Is it trance? Breaks? Electro? Something else? I honestly have no clue, but this music embodies the best parts of early trance and rave music. Enjoy this 3 hour impromptu journey through the stars, starting a mellow 110 working our way up to 145.

A mix I created for the Hypnotic Trance Mix for r/trance mix competition (Sept 22).  Unfortunately I misread the rules and can't use this mix but here it is for everyone to listen to.

If anyone asked me to describe the trance sound I love I have always used the word hypnotic.  Here we have a mix of very modern hypnotic trance bookended by tracks from the master of hypnotic trance, Oliver Lieb.  Get lost in the music.

Hypnotic Trance Mix

Over the past few years, the sound of early 90s trance has seen a huge renaissance, with a new wave of producers such as KI/KI, Adam Pits and Nina Kraviz bringing to the true sound of 90s euphoria, to a new generation. On this 12th edition, We hand over the turn tables to a man that has become enamored with that sound, Oscar Torres.

Over the next 85 minutes, expect a blistering blend of tracks old and new from the Ibicencan DJ, in a place where trance and techno meet.

The Resurgence of Trance with A992 - GTAC013

This mix was made for a 2022 EOY mixcomp, anything from 2022 goes though must be predominantly trance. The comp had such good mixes this year representing a diverse idea of what makes makes trance memorable. There was a handful this time around, including this mix, that focus on the revival/nutrance trance sound. It's quite diverse, some sounding very housey, some techno, and breaks, all with trance and acid sprinkles. Though I am not quite sure how much of the trance fanbase identifies this music as such, I am very happy to see the growth of this scene and hope to see it get even more trance infused.
This mix developed from liveset experiments, although a few tracks landed in the hopper in the last couple weeks. I wanted this mix to feel like a dream, ramping up very slowly with some drama and whitespace. When things crank up, they get a bit more playful, but grow darker with the angst that some dreams bring. As the dream wanes the tension dissipates. Hope you all enjoy this mix (that did win this comp!)

TranceFix Radio #10 - TF Best Of 2022 Mix II: Underground | Deep Trance | Nu-Trance - Redrot

This mix was created for the /r/classicstrance comp, the prompt encouraging one or more rare tracks (hence the 'under the table') pre-2008 trance with no other restrictions. Freedom! I've been itching to make a classics prog set for a while anyway. This set leans in to that classic late 90s prog sound, although it reaches in to the EE era as well. Journey prog was always my favorite and likely always likely will be. Shame the genre is nearly non-existent in 2023. I wanted this mix to be dreamy and a bit more emotive than some of the mixes I've made lately. This mix really takes its time as well, so sit back for the ride. There are some footnotes to explain the rarity or composition path for some of the tracks below. 128-137bpm. Enjoy.

Had to cook up a new recipe with them. This is a longer version with a remaster.
