We are proud and almost overwhelmed to present our guest for this week, Steve Bicknell(@steve-bicknell). This producer and artist has been an important figure in the UK techno scene, and in the techno world since the early nineties. 

Steve is running LOST with Sheree Rashit, the club night which is being heralded  as the most influential and respected techno event in UK, not to mention it being the most long-running one. He also has numerous releases on the label that is considered by many as legendary material up until to this day. 

After being on hold since 2005 the founders of Cosmic records ( Sheree and Steve) decided to rejuvenate the label, starting of with releasing Cosmic 035, Lost Recordings 8 featuring Steve himself. We express huge gratitude and respect to Steve for taking time to make this episode for us, and we can assure you as the listener… you are in for a HEAVY techno trip!

Otherworldly Ambiguity 8/29/24 @ Podlasie Club

Intergalactic Gary has been one of our favorite DJs for many years, as his genre transcendence aligns perfectly with IT’s vision. This set was recorded in a very special circumstance, at Tresor 313, May 25, 2024 at the Tangent Gallery on Day 1 of Return to the Source. Originally scheduled for 2 hours, it naturally extended to almost 4 hours, which is the kind of thing that is possible at this party when just the right chemistry happens.

We had Intergalactic Gary on directly after the Model 500 live show in the Gallery, the room was already on fire. When he came on he totally captivated the room, the energy was palpable as he effortlessly went from all sorts of variants of techno and house and the raw essence of what makes them – from Italo disco to early Chicago and forms of electro, culminating in his effortless presentation of the timeless sublime jam “Amenity” by Link, a peak experience for everyone present. This kind of perspective on music is really elucidating and liberating, and made for one of the most memorable sets of the weekend – delivered by a true cult hero.

For this set I played on 4 CDJ 3000’s and a V10 mixer, using both of its internal effects processors. For every No Way Back set, and for most sets, I try to prepare new hardware remasters and edits of things that I think would be fascinating recontextualized in this setting. But for NWB, it is even more special, a peak moment, so I try to have new records I’m working on in the studio to test out. For this set that means the hardware mixes I’ve been working on for Torrvo and for Andy Toth can be tested, I’m working on this hardware mixing and remastering tone palate, so I spread that to some edits to give them a whole new power. Playing at No Way Back cannot be put into words, though we try every year, it really is inexplicable without experiencing it. It’s the environment you most want to be in, the space is totally transformed, the sound is dialed in, the audience is so ready, very giving and open, and the feedback you get is incredible. People are up for a ride – we start at the Tangent and end up going to the other side of the universe. Freedom within and without. There’s no place I’d rather be, so I thought I’d share this much sooner than we usually do. Enjoy the ride.

A journey through the Otherself... In anticipation of our new release from one of our dear residents, we present you with a bouncy live set from march! We gathered in the Sanctuary of the Epiphany Arts Center on March 29th to raise funds for our sound system we're in the process of fabricating. Otherself graced us with an hour and a half of wiggly grooves centered around driving percussion and sparse atmospheres. Razor sharp precision throughout the set leads you on a strangely familiar journey. Keep an eye out for the EP of his we have coming!!

BMG’s set from 2am to 4am at Samhain XXV, Nov 1st, 2025 at Tangent, Detroit. The night that time became a loop. Directly after Erika and right before Clarisa Kimski, while Mike Servito then Eris Drew played in the other room. 

“It’s hard to put any words down about this night; it was a magical night. Dimensions collided, it felt like we stood in a place outside of time. It is illogical that the Samhain parties keep getting better, but they do. I’m playing on a set up of multiple CDJ-3000’s and a V10, using the internal effects and many of its processors to reveal new sides of the sounds while in the mix. My main preparation for sets is taking songs I would like to hear on a massive soundsystem and using hardware to remaster them, and give them a new stronger tonal quality. It is both invisible and visceral. To play in an environment such as this, totally transformed by Amber & Infinite Dimensions, with the sound as dialed in as the crowd is both a privilege and a pleasure.” – BMG @bbmmgg

Recorded live on Holy Saturday at the infamous Snax Party in Berghain, this is the first 3 hours of an extended set. "Once a year in honor of the old Ostgut tradition, Berghain closes its doors to the straight crowd and unleashes a no-holds barred gay marathon where anything goes. Due to the circumstances of it being a different crowd and different vibe, I figured I'd upload the set which is a bit harder and funkier than I typically play." -DZ
