“Embustero y Bailarín” was composed in 1967 by my father, Lucas Sainz, and became one of Los Pekenikes’ most iconic instrumentals. I grew up hearing my dad play it on acoustic guitar, so this piece holds deep personal meaning. Later adapted with lyrics by Luis Aguilé in 1975, the melody now returns in a neoclassical solo piano version—my tribute to its timeless beauty and emotional depth, reimagined with passion and cinematic sensitivity.

Recently rediscovered in my filing cabinets: I composed this Sonatina on 13th-14th August 1992. If I remember correctly, I think it was my first attempt to write in sonata form. There is a slow introduction - somewhat wistful - that returns as the coda; otherwise, there is a sense of propulsion and restlessness in the 1st subject, which contrasts with the more content and expansive 2nd subject (in the relative major - returning in the tonic major in the recapitulation). All in all, not such a bad recollection of my 20th century roots!
