Frond aka Sophie is a South East London based DJ/producer and one of the co-founders of the Pollination collective who run a label, put on parties, curate a mix series and organise community projects. We stumbled upon her last year and have been enjoying a bunch of her mixes for CommaCast, On Rotation, Planète Noire and Fuaim. Her sets are peppered with influences of early trance, techno, and 00's prog, building tension, keeping you engaged and demonstrating an ear for storytelling.

About the mix: The mix was recorded on the 5th of October 2024 in Berlin, at our queer day-time party called Apero Club at Crack Bellmer. Apero Club is a co-run event between the collectives Pillow Princess and What a Playground. It is a laid-back, community-driven queer event. We start during the day with open decks and as we ease into the night our invited artists take over to set the mood within the spectrum of house sounds. 

Our mix rounds across the spectrum of progressive house and trance. It is a b2b between Kidcat and Broccoli, the two co-founders of pillow princess. We regularly play together, and the mix you will hear here is a collection of records we've been gathering from shops across Europe. We usually shop and share our sounds, so mixing them together was extremely fun as we could smoothly create a journey together through progressive soundscapes.
