Inspired by and a celebration of Nova Scotia, the small coastal province in Eastern Canada that he calls home, '44° North, 63° West' sees Dezza aka Derek Silvester at his musical best. Featuring singles 'Settle', 'Getaway' and 'Carry Me', this sophomore effort is a glorious collection of progressive house productions that puts Dezza at the forefront of the genre, cementing his name as one of its most important creators.

He builds here on the success of his debut artist album 'Cosmos', released in 2019 which featured standout tracks 'Cold Outside', 'Honey' and 'Expanse', and saw him tour the world from Australia to the Netherlands to the U.S. In sharp contrast, 2020, like it was for so many, was spent largely in isolation by Dezza, who turned to the beauty and nature of his surroundings in the Nova Scotia wilderness for inspiration and comfort. The result was nineteen tracks that look outward, with Dezza finding joy in his unique environment; this is reflected in the album's tracks that are tied together by a common theme of optimism and bliss through upbeat chord progressions, driving percussion and airy, floating synths. 

He recruits a host of impressive collaborators to breathe further life into his productions, including vocalists from around the world like Lauren L'aimant, EMME, Dan Soleil, HEBE, Lewyn, Møøne and Mike Schmid, who bring their own perspectives and stories to '44° North, 63° West' with their first-rate performances.

Backed by extensive studies in the UK metropolis of London, inspired by artists like Christian Löffler or Jan Blomqvist and drawing from her ever growing DJ & nightlife experience, which already saw Natascha Polké taking over slots at the famed Hive Club and other places, the Zurich-based artist developed a unique approach to what she describes as dreamy, melody-driven Electronica.

The title track and opener "Stars Wrapped In Skin" starts on a complex, melodically intricate level, combining warm, analogue basslines and crystalline motifs for the dancefloor whilst Natascha Polké's tender and fragile vocals add a certain element of beauty, melancholia and masterly sculpted sonic poetry, no matter if this tune is hammered through a big club P.A. or played on late night radio.

"I Don't Mind" indulges in deeply felt, most beauteous dancefloor melancholia and turns out to be one perfect closing tune for a long and ecstatic night out that's about to end way after the wee hours have passed.

With "Neverland" we see Natascha Polké's love for the dancefloor and huge basslines manifest once again, this time fusing with cascading synth lines and hyper-harmonic arrangements whilst her distinct vocal style harks back to a history of well beloved big time bangers, which left a mark and carved out their niche within the global musical consciousness and extended beyond the realm of club culture over the course of the past 25 years.

Last but not least: The subsequent "Neverland Aparde Remix" alters the original cut only slightly and takes the vibe to an even dreamier, more harmonic level perfectly suitable for daytime or early morning sets fully dedicated to a style oftentimes referred to as Melodic House - garnished with a bit of Natascha Polké's unique Indietronica twist, ofc.

I was in the middle of our US tour in Los Angeles last year and got asked to remix one of the biggest acts in the world - Coldplay - so I locked down for a couple of days (into my manager's house) and here is the result. Poesie Musik has the very special honor to announce the release of a remix of a song known the world over, authored by no less than Sade. One of the prolific singer's most well-known creations, ‚Pearls‘ is given a deluxe makeover by German dance floor mainstay Timo Jahns, whose moody, melancholy personal sound fits perfectly with the sultry vocals on one of the crooner's most moving songs. 

Hailing from Göttingen, Timo Jahns has carved out a name for himself on the German party circuit thanks in part to an endless list of edited music and remixes on labels like Ponsactrilau, Underyourskin Records, Neverending, Cometomusic, Klang Gymnastik and 9Volt, as well as his own imprint FREUNDCHEN RECORDS, created for an intimate circle of few. 

This latest foray into the reworking of certain melodic masterpieces comes after Timo’s remixes of music by the likes of songstress Melody Gardot and Bon Iver just last year. For this special rendition of ‚Pearls‘, the producer has carefully lead the tune into deep-house terrains and turned it into a track just begging for summer afternoons and thoughtful chill-out sessions.

In past installments of our series Ezequiel has taken to editing and remixing iconic tracks from 16 Bit Lolitas and Active Child. Looking back across electronic music’s history once again, the Cordoba resident now unveils his edit of Sasha’s memorable remix of Unkle’s ‘In A State’. Released in 2003 on Universal Music, before eventually being featured on the first edition of Sasha’s acclaimed ‘Involver’ mix series, the British DJs epic take on the track still resonates strongly today. Now as we kick off a new year in our free download series we’re pleased to present Ezequiel’s fresh update on the track.
