it was a random, spontaneous trip. 

i went down to la to visit my sister for the weekend - she had just moved, started a new job, got her own apartment and everything. my sister being my sister, she had everything planned out. this trip was gonna be a 72 hour food and music tour. 

i get to lax at around 8 or 9 pm and it is pouring rain. my sister lived on sawtelle at the time and was running into a lot of traffic. we decide to meet up outside dulan's soul food since it was a good midpoint for us to meet. i hopped on a lyft and met her there.

as soon as i get out of the lyft, a car pulls up behind me and flashes high beams. i slowly walk towards the car and it's my sister, holding two big boxes of soul food - fried chicken, okra, hush puppies, greens, all the good stuff. 

the next 3 days proceeded to be the most crazy food and cocktail tour i've ever been on. we binged the first two seasons of bojack, drank so much one cup ozekis and ate so many tacos.

sometimes i wish i knew ahead of time it'd be one of the last times i could travel with my sister.
