The ever-expanding sound of Street Bass is pushed to the outer limits with “Plinky Babie” – an original collaborative track from Philadelphia’s @RVLVR-music and Street Bass bossman, @Dev79.  The sonic journey of “Plinky Babie” encapsulates everything that makes Street Bass such a novel and evolving sound. From it’s twisted appeggiated arp progressions to its sensual R&B vocals to its pummeling kicks and spastic percs, “Plinky Babie” is not only a history lesson of the Street Bass sound developed by Starkey and Dev79 over a decade ago, but also foretells where Philadelphia’s niche bass driven genre is heading. Such a triumph on a single track is awe-inspiring.

RVLVR (formerly Speaker for the Dead) is a multi-instrumentalist /composer/ laptop musician and music educator. As member of the Actual Records/Glitch Squad/New Low crews, RVLVR has been a staple of the Philly bass scene for years. Philadelphia producer/DJ, Dev79, has been banging it out as OG of the international bass underground scene. He effortlessly weaves elements of grime, garage, rap, dubstep, juke, among a plethora of other styles from Philly’s rich cultural and musical history into a tapestry of urban bass music that he (along with compatriot Starkey) have dubbed “Street Bass”. Through his original productions, remixes and collaborations, Dev79 always takes his listeners on an intrepid emotional ride into the sonic abyss.

After much deliberation (and many, many pints) of which BPM to focus on for this volume, Dev79, Starkey and cohort .rar Kelly flipped a coin and had the bartender call it. And thus, 100 was born. Don’t get it twisted - just because we decided on 100bpm does NOT mean this is a twerk related compilation. 100 has no constraints really. The only guideline is for producers to make a track in the 95-105 BPM range. The end result is a full spectrum of electronic sounds - even more varied than the inaugural 160.

From Cali’s CRIMES! opening with a crushing head nod, to World DMC Champ DJ Shiftee joining Philly rapper Bok Nero for the album’s only full vocal song (and a very catchy one at that), to the screwed anti gravity grime of Bass Science and the lurching hypnotic half time vibes of Slagz & Suspect Bitch...just to a name a few, everything here is dope and thick with bass.

And the team is dedicated, they are definitely not letting another year go by before you get the next tempo comp, the 130 edition is right around the corner so keep your ears open!

Here we present Bass Science’s self-titled EP! The currently Los Angeles based artist has spent a considerable amount of time crafting this release, determined to create a body of work that focuses on raw warehouse vibes as much as it does cruising around Malibu during sunset. The newest songs from Bass Science encompass a divergent world, fusing footwork influences with touches of soulful future bass. He creates a unique and engaging listen with pop sensibilities twisted into a hella percussive journey!

Starkey and Dev79 are the masterminds behind the Seclusiasis empire, as well as Slit Jockey Records with partner El Carnicero. These acclaimed labels have released artists such as Distal, J-Sweet, DNAEBEATS, Aquadrop, Mr. Mitch, Doshy and Knight Riderz.
