It's called 'First drumz', because for once I started with the drums, instead of the melo, lol. Watching homies @alcynoos and @djparental always starting with a drum groove inspired me to try this for once, and I found that the result was dope. It actually allows you to adapt and flip a melo very differently, it convinced me to do this way more... Thanks for that btw!

Dirty trashcan beats. Growing up in NYC in the Golden Era of Hip Hop, he is informed by the East Coast 90’s sound with touches of G-Funk and West Coast flavor, as he now resides in Oakland, CA. Currently working on a concept album with DJ Ammbush (Oakland Faders/Drums and Anmo) entitled “Drums and Ammo,” “Philthy,” as many know him, fuses obscure samples lifted from dusty vinyl dug from across the globe with retrofuturistic synths and garbage-can snares and rhinoceros charlie horse kick drums, laced with hi-hats drenched in kisses of the Gods of Rome. He has a steady output of beats and artistic works, including live beat performances. Dr. Gann has been working with TFS in Bay Area schools and community settings, and across the globe using Hip Hop beat making and culture as a mental health, educational, social justice and cross-cultural intervention. He has worked with more than 75,000 youth on six continents in the past six years through TFS and is currently developing the Therapeutic Beat Making (TBM) Model.

TOUR DE FRANCE 
Let's not say that Biof (bee-off) is an old timer, but he started beatmaking, sampling and crate diggin' at the end of last century.
Way before all these brats :)
He did many collabs with many emcee's, took part in many mixtapes, live, radio shows and freestyles. That was some kind of a golden era, when there was no party without a furious freestyle.
After taking a break from beatmaking in order to produce other artists with his label, StillMuzik, he comes back to work again, armed with his sampler, jewel samples, always vinyl, found by his brother and partner in the label, Adrien.
He finally decides to release his first album, Tour de France. A dusty and vinylistic invitation on a bike, with french music from the 60's, 70's, 80's.
You'll find here some classic french voices as obscure sound illustrations.
Those sounds have been boosted with EPO, steroids, self blood transfused, 12-bit-plugin-massaged, then spat back with the finest boom bap sauce. Good energy to climb mountains without effort (Un peu plus haut, Porte Dorée, Belleville). And then go on the dreamy way down, cycling in the wind (Modern Pop, Sur le chemin de l'école, Le bruit de la Rue).
27 tracks as 27 sounding staging points to get a glimpse of Biof's musical universe : Rich, uncluttered, eclectic, often dark, but always full of hope.

COLD FEELIN'
With this new flipped EP called Cold Feelin', I followed with the exercise of flipping only one song and stretch it out into 4 different instrumental tracks. 
This time it comes straight from the beginnings-of-the-60's-dirty-soul of a great singer called Dee Clark. The song is Blues get off my shoulder, http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Hr_YvFQv6E8
It is a bluesy soul song that has a particular sad spaghetti western feeling, that I tried to pass with this ep. 
As usual, I used the same drum kit, mostly the same sine bass sound, and tried to give to the whole ep a spontaneous and live ambiance. 
It is is again for free, I hope you'll enjoy it.

WITHOUT SOUND
The exercise goes as following: 
1) Take ONLY ONE song you like 
2) Flip the samples on as much beats you like

I used the sample of one song I like particularly to make different beats, with different vibes. The flipped song comes from a famous french singer, Veronique Sanson (without sound), and the song comes from her soul funky works of the beginning of the 80's. As usual, I don't quantize beats, and I tend to use the same drumkit, same synths, all through the ep.

TRIBUTE TO AREITO
In Tribute to Areito, he wants to put the light on one of the most creative labels in history of latin music. A label which released as well as salsa/son albums, some great latin jazz, soul and experimental works. Those records could come only from a country like Cuba.

"I chose to keep the same vibe all through the EP, using samples coming from the same era, 60's to end of the 70's, but I chose also to keep the same drumkit on all songs, free synth plugins, and some secret ingredients. This label is a beatmaker's treasure."
