Aaron Jacobs - Live @ The Darkside [03.18.23]

2022 was my 8th return to Burning Man and my 4th year camping and building with DISTRIKT. It’s always a lot of blood, sweat, and beers being part of such a massive camp that provides so much. It is rewarding in ways I can’t describe despite this year being particularly difficult. 

As for my set at DISTRIKT, I decided to go with a darker style than usual and the crowd seemed to love it. I wanted to represent the sound from my Shadow Wulf record label and I included a few grooves from the label. It was a blissful experience for me to see all the happy faces getting down in the heat with me. I hope you all enjoy this recording over and over again. I am looking forward to seeing you all in the dust once again 2023!

The location was a beautiful California desert, swimming pool, hillside waterside, hot tub, and Funktion One dance floor. It's always a pleasure to get to play DNB. DNB was the reason I started DJing back in 2002 and Diesel Boy has always been an inspiration. I played my style of liquid and dark minimal sexy DNB.

It was at the same beautiful location as the last Tropical Oasis and the vibes were just right as always. I had the lovely task of bringing the energy to a close so I kept it chill yet grooving, Not too hard, but just the right amount of dance flavor to keep the dance floor moving. Lost in Nonsense

This is the set I played to accompany the yoga class lead by Laurel Erilane. It was at the Revorenegade Revo Lounge tent at Woogie Weekend 2016. It's a bell curve, starting slow and raising the tempo at a gradual pace before finishing off with dreamy soundscapes. Played my first dnb set in over 5 years at North Hollywood Park for LA Hoopers Decompression on World Hoop Day. I had so much fun playing this mix of Liquid, Deep, Minimal, Old Skool Jungly, Funk with just the right amount of Dirt for all the hoopers, flow-ers and homies chillin in the park. I’ve forgotten how many tracks you need in your arsenal for 1 1/2 hour dnb mix! I played 32 tracks and loved every minute of it! I hope you do also! Here is my mix recorded from Thunderbird Ranch, November 12, 2016, around midnight. As a birthday salute to Leah, I kept the dancefloor moving with some stompy techno. A bit dirty, a bit dark, kinda groovy, and definitely chugging along. This night was definitely was such an incredible time to be present. It was the night before the super blood moon, a perfectly lovely night right at the gate to Joshua Tree National Park. The patterns the clouds produced as the epic moonlight illuminated the sky made for a dramatic peak into the heavens. We nestled all cozy in our space of audio bliss thanks to Brandon Heinz who had that shit dialed. Thanks to all the artists, the dancers, volunteers, friends and family for sharing such a special time with me. Big thanks to Brooks Wilkinson and Leah Ludwig for creating the space.

This seriously was one of my favorite times playing, ever! So much love and gratitude daily for the abundance we get to enjoy.

Todd "Chino" knows sound like no other. When I was asked to play NYE night at his event at The Ranch I didn't hesitate to say yes and rule out any other offers for the evening. I chose tracks that I knew would have nice low end with crisp overtones and sizzling percussion to play on Chino's finely tuned Danley rig. I played NYE night at 2:30 am, so I played dark, grooving, bassy, driving techno with a splash of vocal and melodic relief with the occasional big progressive track to keep the dance floor moving...and boy did it!!! So much appreciation and gratitude for everyone involved in making this a very special New Year adventure from start to finish. I am humbled and blessed for my life and I love our SoCal community of talented and awesome souls that continue to delight my being. Music is the universal language and I live my life by it. Thank you all for your continued support.
