Daan comes from a very musical family and has been making music since the day he was born. At a young age he started playing the guitar and piano, learning this from his dad who made him start with the hardest chords and progressions, with the idea that he will be able to play so hereafter without any effort. This was the start of his passion for playing and making music. In his youth he often performed with his dad on Ibiza at bars and cafes, all this together with a large group of musicians from all over the world, whom they met there every summer. Later he made the switch to producing house music, what he is doing over the past three years now.

He describes his style as sample based house music with influences from different styles like Funk, Jazz, Soul & Rock music. He gets inspired from artists like: Inland Knights, Anotr, Phill Weeks and many other artists who have released music on labels like Robsoul and Dropmusic.

Also Daan has been busy composing music for movies for a long time, he ha been working on a documentary. In this you are going to hear a totally different side of Daan, a side that strongly developed in his youth! You will hear more about this soon.

We are more than delighted to Have Daan Steenman on Airtime for a solo EP called ‘Ecstasy’. 3 groovy house tracks with a remix by Jamback who adds his own signature sound to the record.

Los músicos tienen el triple de probabilidades de caer en la enfermedad de la depresión en comparación con el resto de oficios.
Los casos de depresión que acaban en suicidio, como el de Kurt Cobain , o más recientemente el del cantante de The Prodigy, Keith Flint, son solo la punta del iceberg de un problema del que nunca se habla en la industria de la música, a pesar de que ya hay datos contundentes al respecto. En 2017, la asociación Help Musicians UK realizó un estudio con más de dos mil artistas , cuyas conclusiones resultaron escalofriantes: los músicos tienen tres veces más probabilidades de sufrir depresión en comparación con el resto de oficios. El 71.1% de los encuestados aseguró haber sufrido ataques de pánico o altos niveles de ansiedad en más de una ocasión, y el 68.5% confesó que sufría de depresión . Un año antes, la filial británica de Sony había abierto el primer departamento de asistencia psicológica (y hasta el momento el único) para artistas que hay en el sector discográfico, alarmado por la alta incidencia de la enfermedad en el sector. 

Una breve historia sobre El Limón

“Algunas batallas se ganan, otras se pierden. Pero, ¿qué pasa cuando pierdes las que ganas?”
Una actuación musical en un programa de televisión, en agosto del 96. Se rueda en un jardín exterior repleto de bailarinas sonrientes y vestidas de colores. Contrastan con el cantante; un tipo serio que va ataviado con un traje negro. Interpreta, con rictus grave, su tema más famoso. La canción del verano. 'La danza de los 40 limones'. Cuando acaba, los presentadores le hacen una breve entrevista. 

- ¿Lo de los limones es el jugo del éxito o una cruz musical que uno tiene que cargar? 

El cantante casi resopla y confiesa:

- No sé, no sé. Es divertido, la gente te reconoce y es todo cariño. Pero a mí lo que me da un poco de pena es que me recuerden como ‘el hombre de los mil limones’, porque yo quería hacer música y no zumo. No sé… el tiempo lo dirá.

El tiempo lo dijo. Hallaron su cuerpo ahorcado cuatro meses más tarde, en el trastero de la casa de sus padres en Córdoba. Tenía 30 años. Nadie se dio cuenta de sus llamadas de auxilio. Juan Antonio Castillo, más conocido como Patuchas o como Juan Antonio Canta, se quitó la vida dos días antes de la Nochebuena de 1996. Lo hizo tras haber firmado el ‘hit’ estival de ese año. Un juego de palabras que triunfó. Esa fue su condena. Un genio incomprendido que acabó preso de un éxito que no quiso alcanzar. No al menos de ese modo. Un compositor que atesoraba una obra de muchos quilates, pero que llegó a la cúspide con algo que él detestaba: la canción del verano.
