Back with their 2nd release on the Sublease Music imprint are Dylan Griffin and Chad B, following on from their well received We Were Sleeping EP of 2020. The pair hail from Melbourne, Australia, and have clearly formed a connection with Steve Bug’s aesthetic for the label, fitting perfectly with the swingy, deep vibe it’s becoming known for. 

Here, the pair treat us to a couple of new numbers - Pulled is a light-footed house groover - a skippy groove is augmented by a choppy, soulful melodic synth that gives this a true summer feel. 
Abbotsford is a little more straight up dancefloor tackle - deep and jacking, the track shows some serious production chops and uses a few well chosen vocal samples to lift the vibe into a real party starting zone.

Title track ‘Volver’ trips along in multi-colour splendour, it’s hypnotic groove underpinned by warm oscillating pads whilst VINYL ONLY track ‘Nuevo’ is a sprightly fresh tech roller. Label head Enzo Siragusa ups the energy on his remix with a well rounded kick drum imbuing the track with a sense of urgency .

Sascha Dive was last spotted on Bondage-Music earlier this year with the deep hypnotic pulses of ‘Dark Night’ on ‘Bondage Games 5’. So it’s fitting he returns with ‘Detroit Sunrise’ and, as sure as day follows night, it’s every bit as deep, pulsing and hypnotic as you’d expect from the Frankfurt craftsman…
His first full EP for the Leipzig label, we open with real talk. ‘Detroit Sunrise’ warms up with broad, swinging drums, rippling textures and a crucial spoken word sample every single one of us should consider. It sets the scene for two classic Dive deep adventures as both ‘Dub Chronicles #1’ and ‘Dub Chronicles #2’ both roll out with subtlety and understatement. Layered, absorbing and endless; timeless tools made for those deep mix moments of magic.
Last but not least, we end on an upbeat. ‘Ghostdancer’ takes more of a sprightly, light-footed note with an upward-spiralling arpeggiated riff, gentle ebb and flow chords and a light peppering of cosmic flurries. Ghoulishly good. Like all things by Dive and Bondage-Music. Don’t get tied down, get tied up…
