Some of y'all are mad young, so you don't remember music stores like Strawberries, but when I was about 14 I went into that store and I saw a CD.  It was called Earthrise Ninja 2 put out by Ninja Tune @ninja-tune records, and at the time, it was a game changer for me.   

The whole CD is amazing, but one of the songs that really stuck with me was the last track, an Ashley Beedle @ashley-beedle of Hedfunk's Conciousness (DJ Food? Coldcut?).  Anyways, I decided to give the track a little cover/rework action.   I encourage you all to buy that original CD if you can find it, and also if you're not up on Ninja Tune & Ashley Beedle check out their music it's incredible.

Though we haven't premiered any music for a minute, we couldn't say no when Mecca:83 asked us to premiere Oz's song "Beautiful" on Soundcloud.

We never knew Oz nor had we heard his music, but it's never too late now is it? Sadly this remarkable human being passed before being able to release any solo material.

Last autumn the long-awaited debut “Colour” by Pete Josef saw its release on Sonar Kollektiv. Now the first 12inch with four fantastic remixes arrives (the digital release comes even with six of them).

The remix by British LV for “Hope” is the perfect kick-off and whets one's appetite for more. Their sensuous rework accommodates Josef's voice immaculately and lets the bassline vibrate as gracefully as a treetop in the vernal wind.

Appropriately another duo, this one from Montreal, delivers an ultra smooth remix for “Spring At Last”: The Black 80s fortify herewith their claim to be the next hot shit. Also a name to watch out for over the next few months is the one by Fabian Dikof. Everything he learned by his mentor Andre Lodemann is translated in his work into an incredible, chameleonic vision of house music. To be heard on his remix for “Colour” and its dub version.

Another remix for “Colour” comes all the way out of the prosperous Vancouver scene by the Potatohead People. The “Lights Off” as well as the “Lights On” remix are both gentle RnB with the emphasis on the snare and on the lovey-dovey synth melody. All in all, exactly the sort of remixes not only Pete Josef was wishing for, but also we as the listeners, to tune into this summer's groove.

And it had me think about my own relationship with my parents over the years. Basically, he only just sang over the piano. So I added drums, bass, rhodes, and strings to it. Hope you all enjoy!
