Track 7 in "Etats d'âme" (2022) by Alex M: composed, played, arranged, edited and recorded by Alex M in GarageBand iOS and Logic Pro X, 16 and 17 December 2021, and mixed in Logic Pro X, 17 December 2021; posted on SoundCloud on 26 December 2021 (before the release of the album as a whole).

The album artwork cover, also used as the cover of each constituent track, was created in Tayasui Sketches on 4 February 2021, edited and annotated in Paint and saved in its final form on 6 February 2021.

This song could be interpreted as an old fashoined love song or something much deeper and profound. This song is about an old musician reminiscing about his past. All those opportunities he had. But for circumstances he may have made it. However, he acknowledges that someone has always been there for him throughout his life that helped wash away the footprints (negative memories and thoughts), the footprints in the sand. The "someone" could be a higher spirit, group consciousness or a partner. I will leave it to your own interpretation.

Shure KSM44 (close mic on amps, hi-hat, cajon)
AKG xls 414 and Neumann TLM67 room mic

Guitars:
Rhythm: Gibson ES335

Bass: Fender squire

Hand crafted DIY ;-)
I'm not a drummer - just trying to pull off the minimum here
Pearl Cajon Mach 2 – with brushes
Pearl Hi Hat with Zildjian symbols - with brushes

Mixer: a very old API 24 channel summing mixer (8200/7800)
Stereo Bus processing (API EQ and API compressor)
Final mix down to a MARA MCI JH110 1/4inch 2-track at 15 ips using ATR Master Tape. I used an input and output transformer to give some additional harmonics. Hope you like it.

I tried to call you that afternoon – phone rang off the hook – and my frustration – left me contemplating – do I come over your place with gun in hand so I can eliminate what killed us
