Darko Kolar 
(Katran, Jezgro, Ontal)

Katran is the main solo project of Darko Kolar, who is also one half of the Ontal (alongside with Boris Brenecki), and he is also part of Impuls Controls (a project of Ontal and Blush Response). 
Darko Kolar is also the founder of Jezgro label and Ontal Series.

Darko's residence is up on the north of Serbia in the city of Subotica. His musical career started in 2005. under Dekode moniker. He passionately started to collect records and slowly to produce music. Soon enough hi started to release music on different labels alongside with the names such as Si Begg, 
Radioactiveman, Sillicon Scally, Scape One and more. Even until today he plays some of that old electro, breakbeat, IDM stuff  that may be forgotten. 

The year of 2011. was one of the most important years in his musical career. Ever since forming Ontal his musical career advanced. With Ontal being recognized amongst leading industrial techno/experimental names on the world scene, Darko has developed a new way of expressing himself through Katran project. He puts all of his creative force and energy into his music, so the stuff that he creates as Katran is dark, rough and intensive, always in a constant change.

In 2016 Darko launched a label called Jezgro. The first release was by MRTVI, on of the Huren's pseudonym and with additional remix by Violet Poison. The second release came out in 2017, created by the master of noise music - Merzbow. The main focus of the label is to represent more obscure, dark and unstructured parts of the electronic music. Crucial aesthetical core of the label are genres such as 
harsh noise, industrial techno, drone, off beat techno, rhythmic noise, ambiental and similar styles.

In Silent Series X is back with the first EP of the new series: ISSXII.

In 2020, In Silent Series released 10 EPs of cutting edge electronic music from some of the best producers of this era. Spanning a wide array of styles but built around the ISSXI | SOUNDS samples created by label owner Michael Jefford (aka Positive Centre), which was made available through insilentseries.org at the same time.

The first EP of the new series ISSXII, features four artists who have taken these sounds and transformed them outside of their original scope and into their own unique styles which defines the landscape for the next phase of this project. 

Secus + Josh Sturges' "Return to Dust" along with the rest of the EP will be available November 5, 2021.

Ilinx is a collection of tracks resulting from sound explorations carried out between 2020 and 2024.
During these years, the compositions were influenced by theoretical, visual, and sonic research. These focused on altered states of consciousness (hypnosis, lucid dreaming, sensory deprivation), psychophysical phenomena (otoacoustic emission, phosphene), the role of mental projections in the process of reality-making (perception), and the role of the imaginary in politics (ideology, distraction, alternative). These pieces are infused with these questions and focus on the induction of psychic states, suggestion of imaginaries, and perceptive confusion.

Myths

Composed with shortwave, long wave and UHF and VLF field recordings in Burdujeni Sat, near Suceava, Romania during artistic residency at Zidul de Hartie. Special shout out to Dan Prodan, for the ancestral house and the apples. This excerpt is drawn from an iteration of the composition concept realized on the cusp of the Harvest Moon of 2025 in Poznan with additional spontaneous spectral audio and synthesizer which amounts to one full 69 minute piece which will be released by Akashic Records on Bandcamp some time next week after it is divided into smaller tracks. Enjoy the warp of our planet's space time continuum in the fun-house mirror of the ionosphere as bounced back through radio waves.
