Greek artist @fragedis premieres their track breaks-infused techno track "Kliris" off the new Pi Electronics Splits vinyl series.

Split #1 marks the debut of a new vinyl series, to be hosted on the Various Artists catalogue of the label Pi Electronics. The Split series will be bringing two artists on the same vinyl, with this very first release presenting music by Greek producers Fragedis and Nemmett.

Despite different backgrounds of electronic music, Fragedis is a prolific figure of the Cretan islands’ dance scene, while Nemmett is one of the Athenean founding members of the ᾽π᾽ crew. Both artists premiere absolute weapons for this vinyl release.

On the A side, Fragedis delivers a techno/breaks cut of dystopian melodies and vocal samples with his opening track “Flantza." His second track, “Klirish” blends industrial leaning percussions with Detroit techno flavored synths.

On the flip side, Nemmett returns with his trademark industrial / breaks sound, in a hypnotic, rap vocal atmosphere with the track “Altars." His broken beat influences go more noise with his second track “Teeth”, which concludes the B side of the vinyl.

London based Romek Boyer (AKA Rommek) & Aimée Mullen form the experimental, electronic act; Torn Relics. The body of their work is a mixture of cyber-punk electronics with tribalistic violin, rhythms and tones. Their debut EP, The Poisoned Chalice, was released on Sacred Court in 2019 and included a remix from SNTS. Abolish The Dogma, the duo's debut 8-track album was released in 2020 on Leyla records, which showcases the diversity of their production styles.

'Burning Injustice', the second album by Torn Relics, forthcoming on the Berlin based label Instruments of Discipline, weaves mythical and futuristic elements of an unknown world. Haunting, visceral and diverse in production styles, the duo continues to pave their own musical territory.

This album was written between 2017 - 2021, in which the music produced reflects the decay of the political and social landscape in the UK, from the Brexit divide to covid isolation. This music serves as an antidote in these turbulent times.

Among masks, ventilators, iron lungs and mass graves, oxygen is conspicuous by its
absence.
As a premise, social discipline, endless opression to the point of not breathing.
An asphyxiating virus, asphyxiating economy, asphyxiating authoritarianism, insane and
suicidal reactions and total confussion.
In between, an innocent resistance arises, the opressed rise our heads to grab an air
mouthful and express ourselves in the shape of rebellion, in the shape of music.
Patince running out and the need for movement after such a long quiet time emerges
unstoppable with a dangerous and somber soundtrack. The restrained scream and the shy
dancing gives space to the ancestral expression of rythm and repetition.
We found consonance among different cultures, artists from all around the globe make up
this compilation, in an attempt to creat that vital oxygenation that makes us feel alive and
this confronting whoever wants to impose and crush us.

This is the return of the collaborative project ‘VOFA’, by Sawf and ANFS, on Pi Electronics. The Athens based duo, that put out the label’s debut release, deliver another 4-tracker of their signature sound for the 5th Pi record. PI05.1 is a bass line oriented composition of thrilling beauty, while PI05.2 and PI05.4 provide different takes on the main PI05 theme: one leaning closer to UK breaks’ influences and the other closer to industrial, hard hitting broken beats. Pi05.3 offers a driving tool of distorted realities and tuning bass lines. All tracks showcase further focus on sound texture and dynamics’ balance, providing a perfect blend of Sawf and ANFS in joint forces as VOFA.
