Michael Kaiser is a DJ and DIY party appreciator native to Los Angeles and based in Pittsburgh.
Equally at home digging through stacks for old gems or soaking up the spectrum of modern electronic music, he is driven by uncovering and highlighting the connective threads running through a diverse range of sounds and rhythms.
He draws from techno, house, dub and the many shades of UK bass music, often venturing outside and in between and playing with an aim of balancing experimentalism with the cultivation of a happy dance floor.

This mix explores intersections between organic and synthetic and the junction of serious and playful.

this recording was taken from my 3hr opening set for the kajunga stage at great beyond.

i played music that i thought would acompany the bright sunny day while people were just stepping foot onto the farm.

there are various mistakes and train wrecks here and there but thats just what happens sometimes.

note:the first 20 or so minutes of the recording are pretty compressed.

Shang is the co-organizer of the long-running and much-beloved Club Congress. Shang has been an enthusiastic, generous, and wide-ranging contributor to many facets of the Philly rave scene over the years, is a sharp-eyed photographer and documentarian of the Philly underground, and is a brilliant film buff, having also contributed some impeccable curation to Bounce House's film screening series Jellyvision.

For the last Smooth Brain Sunday (ever!) on Beloved radio, Malzof graces us with a hybrid dance mix that gets your head and body in an electric groove. 

Starting off with abstract acid house, weaving into dub, freestyle and new beat, returning to the source of disco, 
Malzof takes us on an elemental ride. Their style is captured throughout the mix as it emits a liberating yet emotional feel shared across the genres and origins of dance music.

Malzof is an explorative intermedia artist based in Pittsburgh. Their background consists of multitudes of an audio-visual experience: video production, live audio + visuals, installation art, DJing and beyond. Pittsburgh’s finest Sweet Abyss provides a curatorial medium for Malzof to highlight the expansiveness of transgender dance music.

This was a recording of me playing some records at Deep Alley Desires. 
This was also the first time i had done a vinyl only set so i had lots of mistakes but lots of fun.

AI: “In a dream, I found myself in a city built at the edge of a jungle so dense and green it seems to breathe. The trees grow with such abandon that they spill over the stone walls and roofs, wrapping the city in a green embrace as if the jungle itself has claimed it. Vines coil around archways, their flowers blooming in wild bursts of color. The air is humid, thick with the scent of salt, and as I wander through the city, I feel the weight of the ocean’s presence, though it remains hidden just beyond the trees. The sun filters through the dense canopy in soft, golden beams. There is a deep sense of stillness, but not in a way that feels empty or silent.”

“In this dream, are you alone?”

AI: “It feels as though I’m alone, yet not quite. The jungle breathes and sighs as if it holds unseen lives, creatures tucked behind curtains of leaves or beneath mossy stones. There are gentle hints that I am not alone. The structures here suggest that humans once lived here, or perhaps still do, in some spectral way. They exist somewhere between memory and shadow.”
