I've always believed that a DJ should play standing up, because it simply doesn't seem appropriate otherwise. Until I sat down and played...

Sofa & Beats is a project in which our invited guests play from the sofa, where the participants also have seats at their disposal and the dance floor itself is transformed more into a living room. Artists are freed from the pressure of playing for the dancefloor, they have the opportunity to pull out songs that are not usually played. Participants decide for themselves whether they listen from the couch or want to dance, we provide the right atmosphere and selected music, not only from Poland. 

The Krakow edition (10.12.2022) will feature:
Doob and Doyle Shepherd from Germany
Ezeo from Iceland
and Polish support with Cetlot, Orion Orient and Deaf Can Dance

We start at 20:00 in the space of the former well-known club-café, where the artistic crème de la crème of Krakow met for many years. We would like to encourage people to join us much earlier, we start at 20:00. For some, it's a chance to leave the house earlier than midnight for a party.
We will play until the end. 😎

3 QUESTIONS to KATE ZUBOK:

Q: Let's get into the mood for your mix. Why did you choose these tracks and what do they still mean to you today?

A: These were the first electronic tracks I had heard at an early age (4-6 y.o.) and got the most impressed from. To me they will always remain very special, as they are representing ageless, provocative and soulful, energizing and nostalgic sounds, which remind me my careless childhood.

Q: Do you still play some of those tracks in your DJ sets now?

A: Yes I do! And I love how the energy immediately rises when I play them. Music is like a time machine, it can bring you right back at the time when you first heard it. I also like to play old tracks because I was too young to rave on them when they came out.

Q: Which future Zubok projects are on the way?

A: I’m currently working on preparation for live performances and other new interesting projects. I’m also hoping to finally release my first video clip in the beginning of the new year, which I'm preparing already since a very long time.

I would like to share with you a story from Open'er Festival. The last two weeks have been extremely intense for me. Firstly, I had a great time in Iceland, where I attended the Yzta festival for a whole week and had the pleasure of playing there twice. On my return on Wednesday, only a few hours later, I headed off to the Las festival. There I was able to enjoy another beautiful sunrise and play my set on Thursday for which I am extremely grateful to the organisers for their kind reception. The next day I flew from Wrocław to Gdańsk to spend Saturday breakfast and lunch with my grandmother.

In the meantime, I found out that the time of my performance had been changed to a later time (from 23:00 to 02:00). This completely changed my conception of the set. I had originally planned to play a more balanced set of songs, but faced with the new situation, I opted for dynamics and genre diversity. I chose my favourite tracks from the last 18 years of my career and combined them with new works.

I would like to sincerely thank everyone who, despite the performance of the main artist Kendrick Lamar, stayed with me and danced for three hours, thus cheering me on. My mum also danced bravely on the dance floor for the entire time.

I would also like to express my gratitude to the organisers of the Open'er festival for the invitation and the trust they placed in me. Special thanks go to the team in charge of the stage for their excellent hospitality.
