I pay homage to the noble Avalokiteshvara,
Bodhisattva, the Great Compassionate One,
Who dispels all fears.

Oh noble Avalokiteshvara,
I continually adore the One who Dispels all Fears,
To You adoration, O Nilakantha (the blue-throated one).

I shall clearly sing the 'heart' dharani for the sake of all beings,
For it is pure and serves all purposes for all beings,
As it purifies the path of soul existence.

May I quickly obtain the Dharma-Body.

If I face a mountain of knives, may it naturally crumble,
If I face a roaring fire, may it naturally burn out,
If I face hell, may it naturally disappear,
If I face a hungry ghost, may it naturally be satiated,
If I face an Asura (demon), may its evil heart gradually become tame,
If I face an animal, may it naturally obtain great wisdom.

Avalokiteshvara, noble and true,
Great Compassionate One, dispelling all fear for you.

Nilakantha, I sing your praise,
Heart's dharani, pure in its ways.

For all beings, its words take flight,
Path cleansed, soul's journey bathed in light.

Dharma-Body, grant me its might,
Let mountains crumble, fires lose their bite.

Hell fades, hungry ghosts find rest,
Asura's rage calms within their breast.

Animals wise, free from sorrow's hold,
Compassion's embrace, a story untold.
