An international community comes together in the Dutch capital once more after a lengthy period of exile. Amsterdam opens its city gates to a Dance Event of unrivalled togetherness and fraternity. A bright dawn beckons over the horizon with new musical hope touching familiar landmarks. Mango Alley contributes with a seventh edition of its timeless classic bringing joy through a collection of rising and seasoned artists. Twenty-two pieces of sonic creativity reverberate across the night sky in beautiful golden light.

In time, a new beginning creates a snapshot of autumnal colour. Gentle mist rolls across canals that interweave through a vibrant city. An hourglass slowly sifts its grains of sand as a plethora of sights and sounds are generated in synchronicity over days that wait for night to fall. The bustling Leidseplein is filled with chatter by day, while dislocated melodic patterns drift across Rembrantplein as twilight turns to night. Nothing is off limit at the stylish and atmospheric ClubNL and the aural rush created by the Sugar Factory then leads east to tempting rhythms found across the Panama canal.

Introducing Mango Alley's first release of 2024, ALLEY248 "Con Sequence" by Haen. The EP features an eclectic mix of tracks, each displaying Haen's unique approach to sound design.
The title track, "Con Sequence" is a collaborative progressive breaks piece with Mango, showcasing a seamless blend of their creative energies. "Paradise Dungeon" takes listeners on a hypnotic journey, and this track has been skilfully remixed by Anton Borin, adding an extra layer of intrigue and detailing to the original composition.
Haen's artistry shines through in "The Insignificance Of It All," a contemplative piece that delves into deep techy vibes. Chook lends his remix expertise to this track, offering a fresh and more resonating perspective on the original.
Closing the EP with "The Butterfly Effect" Haen delivers a mesmerizing composition that explores intricate soundscapes and leaves no doubt of his versatile production skills and vision for music.

Why do we tell stories?

We breathe, we eat, we sleep. We seek connection. These are our basic human needs.

But there is one more need we all share, and it centres on stories. All across the world, stories are being recounted everywhere, in every imaginable way, at any given time. For telling stories is at the very essence of what it is to be human.

The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun.

With The Quest, Chapter 24 returns with seven stories in sound collected from artists across the world to bring these themes to life.

NHAR (My Favorite Robot, Correspondant) is a consummate storyteller, and he opens the book with the glistening space tech of 'Navigli'. This is quickly followed up by newcomer Dan Grassler, whose superb 'Going Back' with US vocalist KnowKontrol is powerfully brooding and promises great things for the Munich-based producer.

The momentum picks up further with the standout 'Over My Head', a dark and delicious cut from two returning Chapter 24 artists, Alex Zed and Billie Fountain.

The label welcomes Teho and Machino for their inaugural releases on the imprint. Frenchman Teho (Herzblut, Parquet) serves up a double helping of delight with the skilfully crafted 'Back To The Forest' and the tense tech house of 'Drunken Leads'. Meanwhile, Machino (Desert Hearts), one of a new wave of Tijuana-based producers, showcases his unique blend of potent techno and ambient influences on 'Perdidos'.

Finally, Melodule and Van Did bring the tales to a close with 'Téou 12', a dreamy, abstract piece that showcases wonky basslines, drifting pads and engaging sound design.

They say that there are only seven basic plots but a thousand different stories. 

And so, as the storyteller utters that age old, magical phrase "Once upon a time...", let yourself be carried away…
