Our first upload features Chunky's massive live melodic set from the Born To Dance Merri Creek Day Gathering held on Wurundjeri Country!

The event was an amazing demonstration of reconciliation and community connectedness through the medium of electronic music, dance and Aboriginal cultural performers.

To say that this was a really special moment for us all would be a massive understatement. The amount of community support shown was absolutely incredible, with hundreds of people attending to be a part of it. That dance floor was absolutely heaving - and we can't wait to do it with you all again soon!

We'll be releasing sets from this gathering over the next few weeks - so stay tuned!

Following on from Chunky, Tahl treated us all to an extra special live set that shook up dust from the ground to the treetops..

Tahl's been a staple in the Melbourne dance music scene for many years now, having played at countless clubs and festivals both here and interstate. His unique style, breadth of experience and level of technical ability shine throughout his sets, demonstrating an unwavering passion and love for music and it's ability to bring people together.

It was an absolute pleasure having Tahl join us for our first fully outdoor event, and we knew we were all in safe hands as soon as he took over the decks. We'd also like to say a massive thank you to him for not only fully delivering the musical goods, but also for donating his time to do so, we all really appreciate it.

Here it is, Brothers closing set from our first outdoor gathering!

It's a live and unedited recording, featuring an eclectic yet cohesive blend of earthy, organic and futuristic sounding dance music.

Aside from Sam and Seth's opening track, this was a totally unplanned and fully improvised set. Their track selection was guided by a combination of the energy from the dance-floor, and the beautiful Wurundjeri Country surroundings we were all immersed in that night!

Triple J featured Seth Nolan (one half of Brothers) and Luke Isaacs (Chunky) on the Friday Lunch Show on Friday 17 August to spin some of their unique style of music "Aboriginal Techno" - including some unreleased material from Seth/Brothers!

They also spoke about how they came about developing the genre of Aboriginal Techno and what it involves, our not for profit organisation, and our upcoming events!

We're very grateful to have had the opportunity to come in on the Triple J airwaves, thank you to Stacy Gougoulis for having us and giving us the opportunity to showcase Aboriginal Techno to the Australian public!

Aboriginal Techno is a genre that the fellas are crafting to express their culture, heritage and identity through electronic music, in their DJ sets and original productions.

Brothers & ChunKy - Triple J Mix Up - Aboriginal Techno DJ Set

This is Brothers & ChunKy's DJ set from the 2019 Rainbow Serpent Festival, recorded live on the Sunset Stage.

It's a culturally-inspired auditory journey, which blends progressive and percussive electronica that features Aboriginal instruments such as yidaki (didgeridoo), clap sticks, vocal chants, tribal rhythms, storytelling, and nature sounds that are heard when out on country. They call this ‘Aboriginal Techno’.  

Their aim is to tell a story through our track selection, and take listeners on an exploration of culture that challenges preconceptions, and expands the definition of what Aboriginal culture is.

Maxwell Buckley AKA XUANXUE, is a Co-Founder of Kerfuffle Cambodia, South East Asia's Biggest Underground Party located deep in the Otres Jungle

Being born in Sydney and now residing in Melbourne (with a few stops in-between) he's currently directing his energy towards his community focused organisation 'XIII Research & Design'

The organisation is raising funds for 'Project Macondo' which aims to secure a piece of land that will operate as a long term research and design facility, to focus on creating elegant and inspiring design solutions for the many sociocultural and ecological problems we all collectively face

Maxwell and his team facilitate fundraising events to work towards their collective goal, utilising the universal power that dance music has to bring people together for a shared outcome. We were also very honoured to be a part of their previous fundraising event, and would like to thank the team for raising a huge $952 to support our annual Merri Creek Day Gathering!

Behind the decks, XUANXUE is a powerhouse DJ, who's track selection, mixing capability, and ability to take you on a captivating ride through musical styles - speaks loudly for itself. Focusing on world dance music influences with tribal and percussion focused rhythms, his sets have a distinctly unique overall journey sound, that leave you in a place far far away from where you started
