Thomas Hessler is part of a promising new generation of Techno producers & DJs. Born and raised in East Germany, Hessler‘s inspirations are deeply rooted in his former home city of Berlin. Growing up during the time of the wall‘s fall and the resulting changes for Germany itself, his approach to production intends to reflect feelings of change. Within a short time Hessler‘s DJ sets have already made their mark at Berghain and various venues all over Europe. Returning again to the theme of surprise, he keeps dancers on their toes, leading them through atmospheric and intense journeys of techno and its history. Since his first record in 2012, Hessler has worked tirelessly to develop his craft and prove what he stands for as an artist. His dark, driven techno and deep, atmospheric electronica, informed by classic Detroit and Berlin sounds yet also exploring more experimental boundaries. His debut on Marcel Fengler’s IMF was the logical next step and his Perception EP gained deserved recognition from a wealth of contemporary DJs, while his contribution to IMF 004‘s various artists EP won praise from Resident Advisor as a ‚psychedelically epic‘ strain of techno. The way Thomas Hessler comprehends our fast-paced world is nostalgic but still with a glimmer of hope for the future. Always preferring quality over quantity in his productions, patience and perfectionism are two qualities he prizes over all else.

The 24th of December marks our 10th TNDB-podcast. For this episode we've invited the mysterious and illustrious Janice.

Janice has played once in BASIS. He kept the dancefloor alive and energetic with his 2-hour (!!) live set containing solely own material. From that point on, we knew right away that this electronic project is unique.

Janice has been releasing quality tracks on his own label Janice, recently just dropping his fifth EP. His tracks are gaining a steady following under educated audiences. Different artists are picking up on his musical vision, which resulted in a few collaborations. Janice and Bill Youngman (Headless Horseman) have produced and released together on Janice. Janice has an project with Luis Flores called "I Murdered". "I Murdered" has already released on MORD and is chartered by many big artists in the scene.

Fabrizio Lapiana is a well-known fixture on the contemporary Italian techno scene. His musical career started in his hometown Rome where he began collecting vinyl and DJ’ing in the early 90’s. After being mainly active on the local scene, Fabrizio in 2008 started producing and founded his own imprint, the well renowned Attic Music. The label quickly expanded from hosting just Fabrizio’s work into also releasing other artists fitting his personal definition of techno. To date Fabrizio has over two handfuls of releases, Attic Music serves as home to some of these, but also other respected labels such as ARTS, Figure Jams and M_Rec Ltd to mention a few.

Javi Sanchez (Cyklos), DJ and producer based in Barcelona. After more than 15 years in the music business, his sessions are well-refined and his style is a very personal journey full of influential artists such as Regis, Rumenige, Dave Clarke, Drumcell, Truncate, Oscar Mulero, Christian Wunsch, Exium and Polar Inertia.
Cyklos is darkness. His sounds are deep and atmospheric and are underlined by kick drums and hi-hats in their purest energetic form. A good mix of classic and contemporary, old and new, reality and hypnosis.

For the last few years Javi has been hard at work in his studio where he has also edited his first track ' Abstrako' for Underground Family Records. In 2016, Javi's EP 'Dislexia ' released on Barcelona based Record label Monark Recordings as well as Drex Ep. on Labrynth Records.
He has also founded a project called 'Bunker Sets' which is focused on presenting established and up and coming artists in an audiovisual format so far including, Javi Lago, Massa, Kalter Ende, Røtter, Tronus, Lowsystem, Anika Kunst, Sarf.…

In early 2016 created Cykkter with Røtter. This project saw the light at the end of the year with a throw of four tracks published in Concerns Kalter Ende Music label.
He has also released in labels such as Subsist Records, Analog Section, Solmene Records, Simplecoding recordings and Kindcrime.

This 2019 started his new live project alongside Spear, called Strain. They make their debut as Strain on July at Razzmatazz alongside Peter Van Hoesen and Wata Igarashi.

://about blank is a multi-room club by Ostrkeuz S-Bahnhof in Friedrichshain. It's a short walk from Salon Zur Wilde Renate, and like that club, it's a lightly renovated re-purposed building with seemingly endless nooks and crannies. There are two main dance floors inside, one tent outside and in the summer DJs play out in the garden (this is open in the winter too, often with a bonfire going). 

The music policy is open-ended but mostly focused on house and techno, with occasional bass or disco nights. The overall atmosphere is gritty, and the parties often go well into the following afternoon or evening.
