This is a special episode of About To Blow as we shift things in a new direction as we welcome leader of the London seminal ‘Bruk’ movement and Co-Op selector EVM128 down to the studio for a chat and guest mix. 

Made famous from it’s now legendary Plastic Plastic residency in the early 00s, the Co Op movement is known for fusing styles of House with Jazz, Funky, Boogie, Garage and Tribal and thankfully has been enjoying a revival over recent times. Instrumental to that revival is London-based EVM, with the Hackney based joining to talk us through the movement, his career to date, projects to come and the amazing new CoOp Presents: Selectors Assemble Volume 2 compilation.

im one half of funk and hip hop djs idle hands! we perform completely on vinyl over 4 turntables or as solo djs (we live quite far away from each other nowadays!) if its got a drum break we play it....  strictly vinyl and all 45s normally.  We've been playing music out at clubs like the big chill bar and the social for years and even festivals up north!  Supported the likes of the kele la roc (wild card), Mr scruff (ninja tune), the beatnuts (loud records), broke n english (fat city), the herbaliser (ninja tune), bonobo (ninja tune), lemon jelly (XL), and TM Duke (tru thoughts)

ROM 3Ø3 (Volute Records, Rewind) Berlin / French

ROM 3Ø3 is a french DJ & Producer co-founder of the artists and promoter collective Rewind Concept deeply involved in the international underground club scene.

Originally from Lyon, he started to perform in Brussels and moved to the techno mecca Berlin in 2012.

ROM 3Ø3 has gained over the years a solid reputation as a performer by continuously captivating his audience with diversified grooves and intense driving techno sets. His strong dj skills has lead ROM 3Ø3 to play in some of the main international clubs and festivals, from Fuse club to Sisyphos to name a few.

Production wise, ROM 3Ø3 sound is focused on the groove and the texture with a well-built narrative. Most of his recent tracks have been released on Volute Records. 

Coming up this summer is a more introspective melodic 4 tracks E.P. on Platz Für Tanz.
