Their much anticipated second artist album, Above & Beyond's "Group Therapy" combines their renowned song-writing values and sleek electronic production with a modern melodic sound - drawing on the vocal talents of Richard Bedford and Zöe Johnston.

Including elements of trance, house, electronica and even modern classical, "Group Therapy" is a complete listening experience that includes the bittersweet orchestral beauty of piano opener "Filmic", the dark tale of edgy electronic-house anthem "Black Room Boy" and the ambient electronica of "Sun In Your Eyes".

With tales of loves lost, found and confused at ‘Group Therapy’s heart, songs like "Alchemy", "You Got To Go" (both sung by vocalist Zöe Johnston) and "On My Way To Heaven" feat. Above & Beyond are reunited with Sunderland-born singer and songwriter Marty Longstaff for 'Flying By Candlelight’, the first in a new triptych of future club classics from the prolific trio.

Debuted at Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy 300 celebration in Hong Kong last September, A&B share this ode to the elevating power of love in several flavours: Original and Club, each a delicious serving of the songwriting chops that recently swept Above & Beyond to their second GRAMMY nomination for Common Ground album cut ‘Northern Soul’.

Says Tony McGuinness, "Flying By Candlelight is a love song about a saviour who rescues our protagonist from a dark, lonely place, taking him through a spectacular night sky. A bit like The Snowman by Raymond Briggs, but a bit longer lasting!”

Instantly recognisable, entirely unforgettable, ‘Flying By Candlelight’ is the second A&B vocal feature for Longstaff, who contributed the disarming vocal to Common Ground album cut ‘Tightrope’. More commonly found performing under the moniker The Lake Poets, Marty has risen to prominence in recent months with moving single ‘Shipyards’, penned for his home town of Sunderland, UK. The song accompanies the opening credits to the sleeper hit Netflix documentary, ’Sunderland ’Till I Die’.

Marking the 500th catalogue release on Anjunabeats, those who like their music in a tactile format will be able to get their hands on 1 of 500 limited vinyl pressings of the ‘Common Ground Companion’ EP, available for pre-order on the Anjuna Music Store at 5pm GMT on the 23rd of January. Providing a twisted counterpoint to the uplifting ‘Flying By Candlelight’, the second chapter of Above & Beyond’s ‘Common Ground Companion EP’ sees Jono, Paavo and Tony unleash ‘Distorted Truth’. 

This is Above & Beyond at their rawest, channelling the vitality of classic trance instrumentation into a track that manages to simultaneously be brutish and beautiful. Debuted during the band’s sold out Group Therapy 300 celebrations in Hong Kong, an attuned listener might hear a nod to the sounds of the Far East in the breakdown. 

Featuring both ‘Original’ and 'Club' mixes of three tracks that were part of the journey towards 'Common Ground’, the band’s 2018 album which debuted at Number 3 in Billboard’s Album Chart last February.
