Above & Beyond return to the dancefloor with ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 1’, a collection of five heavy-hitting club records, calling back to their instrumental roots. 

The GRAMMY-nominated founders of Anjunabeats have been quiet of late. Following six months of studio hibernation after their sold-out Group Therapy 500 celebrations at Banc of California Stadium last October, Jono, Paavo and Tony have been busy working on their next extended project. Enter ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 1’, a collection of five heavy-hitting club records, calling back to their instrumental roots. 

Drawing inspiration from all areas of contemporary electronic music, ‘Tranquillity Base Vol. 1’ features five tracks debuted in front of 25,000 fans in Los Angeles last October; ranging from the rolling grooves of ‘Spin Off’, to the darker atmospheric techno of ‘VLEKNO’.
 
The name of the EP series references A&B’s beloved Tranquility Base alias, which was revered for its contribution to the trance genre, including iconic records such as ‘Surrender’, ‘Oceanic’ and ‘Razorfish’. The ‘Tranquility Base EP’ series showcases the current instrumental records firmly lodged in Jono, Paavo and Tony’s record boxes. 

“In the same way the quieter moments on our albums have always been a major part of Above & Beyond, the bigger dancefloor moments have also been a hallmark of our sound” says the trio.

The full 5-track EP, ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 1’, is available now across all platforms. 

Above & Beyond will headline The Gorge Amphitheatre on July 21-23 for the biggest iteration yet of their Group Therapy Weekender festival, alongside label stars from Anjunabeats, Anjunadeep and Reflections. Tickets are on sale now (aboveandbeyond.nu/gtw).

Alex Sonata & TheRio mix the eleventh instalment in the seismic Anjunabeats Worldwide compilation series. Worldwide 11 delves deep into the melodic yet heavy sound of the Scottish-Italian production duo, spanning a whole host of new originals and remixes from the pair alongside brand new tracks from some of the label’s most familiar faces. 

Fraser Shaw and Riccardo Derio first joined forces in 2018; after several collaborations, they made it official in 2020, and Alex Sonata & TheRio was born. The duo made their Anjunabeats debut with ‘Time’, a track released as part of our Rising EP series in 2021, and have since skyrocketed up the ranks of the global trance scene with an array of mesmerising tracks including 'Are We Dreaming', 'Cala Luna' and 'Breath Of The Wild'. 

The pair have shown no signs of slowing down this year: they kicked off 2023 with a remix of Andrew Bayer’s ‘Equal’; released ‘Mantra’, which Above & Beyond hammered at their headline performance at Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas and at legendary London institution Printworks; joined forces with Elevven on ‘Hanalei’, which shot to #4 in the Beatport Top 100 Trance chart; and, most recently, collaborated with trance linchpin Giuseppe Ottaviani and electro pop vocalist Tishmal on ‘Tears Of The Kingdom’.

The duo have earned support from trance icons like Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Paul van Dyk, as well as the likes of David Guetta, Markus Schulz, Farius, Hernan Cattaneo and more on their releases this year alone. They recently followed up performances at Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Weekender at The Gorge, our Anjunabeats Rising Summer Social in London and our Anjunabeats Outdoors show in Montreal with a sold-out Worldwide 11 launch event at The Poetry Club at SWG3, Glasgow.

Above & Beyond release the ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 2’ EP, a collection of five instrumental club anthems that fuse elements from across the electronic music spectrum. 

During a busy year of worldwide shows, including Brazil, Canada, UK and the US, the GRAMMY-nominated founders of Anjunabeats, Jono, Paavo and Tony have been hard at work in the studio on their next volume.

The name of the EP series references A&B’s beloved Tranquility Base alias, which was revered for its contribution to the trance genre, including iconic records such as ‘Surrender’, ‘Oceanic’ and ‘Razorfish’. 

Following the enormous success of Volume 1 last year, Above & Beyond are back with the second set of five club-dominating instrumental records.

Above & Beyond’s ‘React’, the bassline-heavy single from ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 2’, was released on 1 November. 

The second single, a euphoric classic trance track titled ‘Another Breakdown’, was released on 20 November.

Debuted at Above & Beyond Group Therapy 600 in Mexico City to an audience of 14,000, and recently heard at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Dreamstate SoCal, the full EP is here.

It features three additional tracks: ‘Hackney Siren’, an electric melting pot of trance, acid and breakbeat, layered with piano chords reminiscent of 90s piano house; ‘From Grey To Light’, another experimental production from the trio featuring trippy acid baselines and layers of piano chords, and ‘Chasing Highs’, a classic trance track that delivers a sound reminiscent of the early 2000s club era.
