Having built a reputation in their home nation of Italy under various solo and collaborative aliases, Thomas Schwartz & Fausto Fanizza come together once again for their debut Anjunadeep release, "You Would / Mad Dog".

The opening track on Above & Beyond's new "Anjunabeats Volume 11" compilation, "You Would" is a masterful piece of emotive electronic music. Setting the mood perfectly in the mix, it's a skilled blend of moody atmospherics, drawing from classic progressive elements and deep house grooves, subtly wound together with melancholic vocals and piano melodies.

"Mad Dog" steps up a gear, again combining dark tones with driving percussion in another sophisticated production. Delicate melodics make way for discordant strings and a surging bass riff as things build to an intense peak.

Following his return to Anjunabeats last month with ‘Every Word’ (featuring the vocals of faved collaborator Kerry Leva), long-term label contributor Matt Lange brings a new three-tracker to the label, entitled ‘Isn’t It Lovely’.

Bookending the EP around ‘Every Word’ is the piano-led title-track ‘Isn’t It Lovely’ - first heard as the tranquil opener on Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats Volume 14 compilation released earlier this year. Completing the EP with new composition ‘Push’, a sophisticated dive from the Grammy-nominated producer into his typically dark & progressive palate.

Matt explains his creative process around the EP - “While ‘Isn’t It Lovely’ was of course inspired by my remix of Above & Beyond’s, ’Is It Love?, ‘Push’ and ‘Every Word’ were inspired by sitting down with a piano, Juno 106 and a Moog and simply playing what felt natural. I feel the melodic nature of this EP expresses this just as I intended”.

Debuted at Group Therapy Weekender 2019, Above & Beyond’s new bi-annual camping festival at The Gorge Amphitheatre outside of Seattle, this angel sounds far from heaven sent.

Featuring three records that have soundtracked Above & Beyond milestone Group Therapy celebrations over the decade, Jono, Paavo and Tony close 2019 with the ‘Out Of Time’ EP. 

A sought after fan favourite, debuted during ABGT100 live from Madison Square Garden, ‘Out Of Time’ was the final track finished for 2015’s ‘We Are All We Need’. While the club rework has percolated among A&B mixes over the last 5 years, the remastered extended mix and edit are now available for the first time.

Another record that has evolved throughout its life time, ‘Is It Love?’ first aired during ABGT200 in Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome as the instrumental ‘1001'. A selection of reimagined Above & Beyond hits and catalogue classics, “Acoustic III” will be released on Anjunabeats this summer.

The band have once again enlisted musical director and producer Bob Bradley to arrange and co-produce “Acoustic III”. The album is a subtle departure from the first two albums in this well-loved series. Fans can expect more uptempo arrangements, bold brass instrumentation and just the right amount of funk. In Bradley’s words: “More Quincy Jones and a little less orchestral, with some really intimate moments.”

“Acoustic III” will feature completely new arrangements of some of the biggest hits from Above & Beyond’s #3 Billboard Hot 100 Album “Common Ground”, including Northern Soul, My Own Hymn and Happiness Amplified, plus reinterpretations of 2019 club singles ‘There’s Only You’ and ‘Waltz’.
The album is set for release in summer 2020 on Anjunabeats and will be supported by a tour of some of the most prestigious concert venues in the UK and North America, including London’s Royal Albert Hall and The Alexandra Palace Theatre, New York’s Radio City, The Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, plus the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and Berkeley. The tour culminates with a special performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 1, accompanied by the Colorado Symphony.

Disc two has no less than six Above & Beyond contributions, including three new club instrumentals: “I Saw Good”, “Jam” and “Crash”. There are two Volume 15 exclusive remixes of Above & Beyond’s staples: “Oceanic”, remixed by Germany’s Jerome, and “Sun In Your Eyes”, remixed by Sunny Lax. 

Some formidable collaborations have been turned in from Andrew Bayer - who teams up on tracks with both Genix and Cosmic Gate - Grum and Genix and Spencer Brown and ALPHA 9. Trance music’s answer to the power trio, Elysian (ilan Bluestone, Maor Levi and Emma Hewitt) also make an appearance.

The GRAMMY-nominated trio Above & Beyond and their live band have reunited with Zoë Johnston to record a cover of ‘Falling’ by Julee Cruise, the opening theme of cult 90s series Twin Peaks.

It’s a lockdown surprise for Above & Beyond fans who, sadly, weren’t able to see the band’s ‘Acoustic III’ tour this year.

Above & Beyond are avid fans of David Lynch’s mysterious drama and the band’s ‘Acoustic’ project - two whole albums of re-imagined songs with a third due this year - wears its Lynchian legacy with pride.

"During the early days of lockdown, I was posting Above & Beyond guitar tutorials online and someone suggested we do a Twin Peaks cover in the comments. I thought it was a great idea and spoke to Zoë that same afternoon. The music of David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti was an important reference for the sound of Acoustic - on the last Acoustic tour, we came on stage to ‘Audrey’s Dance’ from the original Twin Peaks soundtrack album.

Our cover starts as quite faithful to the Julee Cruise original, but using some other 1990s references, it wanders off into its own lovely space."

‘Falling’ was written by Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch in 1989 and was first released on Julee Cruise’s debut album ‘Floating into the Night’.
