In 2019, Reflections gave a name to a hugely successful downtempo compilation series on Anjunadeep. With the launch of the imprint, the second release kickstarts a new various artists EP series, welcoming a new era of talent to the Anjunafamily across the ambient, downtempo and alternative music spectrum, starting with ‘Reflections 01’.

‘Reflections 01’ features six stunning original compositions from Moldovan producer Michael FK, six piece collective Northling, British producer Sleep Surgeon, audiovisual artist Lyndsie Alguire, Montréal producer Lost In City and Leeds based composer Jessie Marcella.

Since first meeting, Brighton-based songwriter Elle Limebear and instrumentalist-producer Cephas Azariah quickly found common ground in their artistic passions, developing a friendship and going on to collaborate across various musical avenues.

A storyteller at heart, Elle’s music combines her commanding yet ethereal vocals throughout her songs, telling tales to accompany people on their journey through life’s highs and lows, whilst inspiring them to look beyond their current challenges. With over 175 million streams and a Billboard #1, Elle’s music has taken her across the world, accompanied by Cephas Azariah as part of her touring band. Here, their joint efforts during sound-checks began to effortlessly take shape, noticing their natural synergy and curiosity to merge their distinct worlds in a creative space, their new project came to life.

Indian-born, British composer and producer Cephas Azariah returns to Reflections after a string of highly respected singles and EPs, including an ambient rework of Cubicolor's ‘Machine Keys’, from their debut LP on sister label Anjunadeep. Having scored music for Channel 4, PUMA, Soho House and soundtracked dozens of films, Cephas only began to reveal his own compositions in late 2021, embracing the paradox between traditional classical composition and his own cultural roots, he has amassed an outstanding 10 million streams to date.

Intended to soundtrack the everyday, ordinary and mundane moments of life, the pair utilise Elle’s voice as an instrument, exploring textures, range and gentle tones. Laid over the soft foundation of Cephas’ delicate, emotive compositions of twinkling pianos, synths and soaring strings, arranged to serve as a soundtrack and invite people to slow down, to embrace the beauty in our everyday moments.

The first single ‘the healing song’ is a testament to this intention, created to be the antidote to some of life’s rough edges, whether that’s repeated work patterns or the strains of home life. These repetitive strain injuries happen not just for our physical bodies but our mind and soul as well. A musical balm can be useful to help slow down and recover, this song is an ointment for that.

Anjunadeep, the A&R hotbed that ignited the careers of label legends Lane 8, Yotto and Dusky, now present the second instalment of their new ‘Reflections’ compilation series. Following the inaugural volume in October, ‘Reflections Vol.2’ is a collection of downtempo and electronica from label stars Jody Wisternoff, Kidnap, Croquet Club and Luttrell, along with rising talents Luigi Sambuy, Lycoriscoris, Tryst and Dotmaka.

The compilation’s second single, stirring piano composition ‘Love Theme’, is from Berlin producer Martin Roth. 2021 marks over a decade long relationship with the label since Martin’s debut release back in 2010 and since, he’s produced some of the most memorable and fan favourite moments in Anjunadeep’s 15 year history; including ‘Beautiful Life’ and his ‘Hypno Seq’ and ‘Organic Cold Brewed Hipster Funk’ EPs in recent years. With an undeniable flair for emotive and cinematic songwriting, his 2020 ambient LP ‘An Analog Guy In A Digital World’ winning widespread acclaim, Martin makes a welcome return to the label with his latest filmic offering on the beautifully crafted ‘Love Theme’, out now.
