Sometimes old is gold - as in the case of these two tracks. Both 6AM in Kyau & Albert Remix and If I Could Fly were great themselves, and it was in December of 2010 that I noticed a very close similarity of chords when re-listening to my old archives. Finetuned by March 2011, the mashup was first played in the 100th episode of my The Sound Of White Nights radioshow. Smooth and flowing, relaxing progressive trance with soothing vocals of Justine Suissa - just what you need on a peaceful day.

Oliver Smith has amassed over 20 million streams across his entire catalogue. A small taste of Above & Beyond's forthcoming album 'Acoustic II'. The trio will perform with a full band at some of the world's most iconic venues including London's Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House and LA's Hollywood Bowl.

Above & Beyond are a phenomenon unlike any other in dance music. Grammy-nominated songwriters, they are the only British dance act to sell out Madison Square Garden as DJs, and yet are about to take an 18-piece band set up on a sold out tour of the world's most iconic concert halls: including London's Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House and Hollywood Bowl to name just three.

A show described by Billboard as “one of the finest in dance music history”, the tour - and accompanying Acoustic II studio album - represents yet another against-the-odds landmark in the unique story of Above & Beyond. Venues that normally take years of hard touring to reach are sold out on only the band's second acoustic tour - you are left wondering: just how do they do it?

The secret is in the songs. Sung back at them by thousands at their celebratory DJ sets, Above & Beyond's tales of life, love and loss have soundtracked weddings, proposals, hikes up Everest, marathons and funerals - stories which are tweeted and emailed in to A&B HQ each week. The lyrics have been plastered on festival signs, provided solace for fans in hard times and have been tattooed with pride by thousands of fans.

Following last year's critically acclaimed electronic album, “We Are All We Need”, Above & Beyond Acoustic II revisits several of the best loved songs from that album and as well as classics from Above & Beyond’s wide back catalogue and reworks them for concert halls rather than clubs; breathing new life and context into them.

Under the supervision of musical director Bob Bradley, the legendary trio have reworked a total of 13 tracks into rich, string-laden band arrangements that reference Portishead, Angelo Badalamenti and movie soundtracks with a uniquely Above & Beyond idiosyncrasy.

Reaching back into their individual musical histories, each member of Above & Beyond performs different parts of the arrangements, including Jono on Rhodes, Tony on guitar and vocals, and Paavo on grand piano. Celebrated A&B collaborator Zoë Johnston sings on re-imagined dancefloor anthems like “We're All We Need” and “Alchemy”, and is joined by a host of other contributing vocalists from Above & Beyond's past and present. Completing the ensemble, string quartets and percussion sections provide a big room feel of a completely different kind.

And they're back again, the guys from T.O.M. This is their new single release on our In
Trance We Trust imprint, entitled "Monsoon".

A real monsoon in nature might refer to a change of seasons with lots of rain, but with
this new single "Monsoon" is the title of a superb track. When we focus on the original
version, then we just have to brace ourselves for a fast paced tech trancer with hard hitting
beats and a thick, rolling bassline. The theme, played by soft synths in the break and by
shredding strings throughout the track, comes in continuously growing layers and moves
toward a lovely climax. An urging drive is the end result; it just keeps going and going.
Jason van Wyk and Tommygoff took the rough edges off the original and each worked their
own magic. Jason van Wyk's version offers a smooth trance experience; Tommygoff turned up the BPM for a more tech trance rendition.

‘Good For Me’ was first released on Above & Beyond’s debut album ‘Tri-State’, which celebrates its fifteenth anniversary in March 2021. Featuring the ethereal voice of long-time collaborator Zoë Johnston, it is one of Above & Beyond’s best-loved anthems. 

Whether he’s ARTY or ALPHA 9, Artem is one of Anjuna’s brightest stars. His ALPHA 9 project went from strength to strength in 2020: highlights include the ‘Stellar EP’, ‘Everywhere I Go’ and ‘All That I Can’.
