A key figure in the electronic dance scene in Cologne, Germany, David Hasert cues up a new release for BLOND:ISH’s ABRACADABRA label, and invites some close friends to collaborate with on the opulent ‘The Sky Is Crying’ single.  With previous releases for Dantze, Katermukke and the Like Records label, Hasert shapes an emotionally uplifting modern day classic, that includes a remix from Niconé.

“After working in many studio rooms without a view, I decided that I would no longer be producing music without a window in front of me.  There's a lot of things that inspire me, like movies, old records and especially just looking up at the sky.  We had a big flood here in Germany and it rained for days.  One day I decided to record the sounds of the thunder and the rain on my window.  My friend Francesco Mami, whom I met years ago at Burning Man, was there, and played some melodies on the piano, and from then on, the idea behind "The Sky Is Crying” grew. The lyrics are inspired by a Gary Coleman classic blues track.

For “Home”, I collaborated for the first time with my good friend Esther Silex.  Usually I mostly work alone, or with Frankie who is helping me shape my sound, but in this case Esther and myself decided to start a track from scratch.  I like the way the track flows and that it’s untypically not just working towards a drop or ‘a moment’. It just flows and flows…

Wankelmut has a very entertaining and well crafted way of deejaying with a huge variety of styles from Deep House to Techno. Beside playing all over Europe he remixed Gossip, Jay Haze, Lukas Graham and various other underground records which established his status within the Techno House Scene. On his 24th birthday in December 2011 Wankelmut aka Jacob Dilßner uploaded his unofficial remix for Asaf Avidan's "Reckoning Song' to Soundcloud. More than one year later the now official remix has sold 1.3 Million copies on Sony/Columbia, scored over 100 Million Youtube Plays and entered the #1 spot in 8 european countries, as well as being the best-selling track on Beatport last year.

In cooperation with the talented Australian singer Emma-Louise, the duo deliver a finely tuned piece of melodic brilliance. Wankemut's faultless Tech-house production, and Emma-Louise's blissful vocals will have you instantly hooked and will be circling around your head for days to come. In addition to the supreme remix package from Gui Boratto, Kasper Bjorke and Solee, new remixes come from Friend Within, and Marc 'MK' Kinchen, who steps up to deliver one of his much loved MK edits which premiered last Friday on Pete Tong.

About the release
Love Is What? What probably started as a not-so-serious question during a wild night out in Berlin soon found its resonance in the studio of the Mecklenburg-based producer duo Kollektiv Ost. As children of the early 80s and 90s, there was only one reasonable answer to this profoundly philosophical question for both of them. A 16th bass, the dusty emu synth and this legendary melody.

Enrico & Carmo and Lati release their debut single ‘Me Ama’ for Abracadabra’s first release of 2024. 

Taking inspiration from Jazzuelle and Kali Mija’s ‘Me Ama (Love Me)’, the pair use the original version vocals to create their own unique afro house mix. 

“We produced this track at my home studio in São Paulo. We were listening casually for bunch of random tracks here just relaxing. Suddenly we heard the vocals of ‘Me Ama’. At that very moment we were touched and knew instantly we could make something out of it. So, in the same day we started this Afro House remix of it. Then a month later Wesley Razzy was with Blond:ish and he played her the track (it was not even finished the arrangement nor mix, it was raw but you could feel its soul) she loved it and played at the festival in Capadaccia. When we saw that video of her playing our track we almost passed out, it was our first support from a huge artist it made us so insanely happy.”

“Typically, I begin my tracks by crafting melodies or establishing a groove. However, this time, everything kicked off when I received these amazing African vocals. Instantly, I sensed it was going to be a hit.

Enamour has been making serious waves on the scene of late, earning support from the likes of Solomun, Black Coffee and CamelPhat. His releases have landed on some of the most exciting house and techno labels, including Diynamic, Get Physical, and Crosstown Rebels. As a DJ, Enamour has played at esteemed venues such as Space Miami, The Brooklyn Mirage and Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles.

“I've always been interested in blurring genre lines and pushing boundaries with my music and this one is no exception. "Is This Your Card?" is meant to turn heads with my borderline-over-the-top sound design and afro-house and Detroit techno influences. The dancefloor response all summer was really positive, so when I saw that Viv had been supporting my track "Zizzy", I sent her this one as it was similarly wild and fun… the rest is history.”
