Le Coutelier @lecoutelier
One of founding member of Boudoir Moderne @boudoirmoderne, collective and label based in Toulouse, France. Organizing gigs and stuffs in different venues over there since 2010 until the pandemic, focusing on large spectrum of synth music going from cold (Rave in the Cave - coldwave goth postpunk & else’s) to hot (Disastro Discoteca - Italo disco synth pop).
Started djing at that time under the moniker of Le Coutelier also known as Matt de la Coutellerie on Facebook because of his graffiti alias back then… but always collecting music since teenage years.

Also running a two weeks radio show named Foutoir Moderne at local radio FMR Toulouse since 2016 and started requesting guestmixes in 2020 with the beginning of the pandemic  as forced to broadcast in distance. Started with close friends then added more and more…. Who knows ? The world has no limit !

Asta Hiroki shares new track ‘Flourish’ taken from his forthcoming second solo full length album via Folded Music.

His album project travels multiple musical roads that span a variety of genres and this track is no exception, mixing folk and jazz instrumentation with nostalgia-inducing warm tape synths and sound design open the track up over a skittish kick beat, energetic percussion and UK garage-style vocal chops. Rumbling sub bass drops provide additional power and balance while occasional snare rolls and found sounds are dropped into the heady mix that juggles several elements expertly, each popping into focus for a moment before another takes centre stage.

Stylistically it draws from the likes of Four tet, Flying Lotus, and Caribou with its genre-blending tendencies grabbing ideas from everywhere. Crafted with modern production techniques but drawing on a smorgasbord of sonics, it’s one of the few tracks on the album that relies more heavily on a sampler as an instrument being played in the same way as drum pads or a keyboard. Yet despite this starker difference compared to some of the tracks which are perhaps better described as modern jazz or otherwise it still doesn’t feel like an outlier in the collection due to the producers ability to successfully meld ideas, sounds, styles and concepts together with subtle details running throughout the work and continuing previous thoughts or ideas already present.

Asta Hiroki speaks about the track:

“I had thought I’d finished the writing element and was working on the selection and run order for this album project when ‘Flourish’ came about. I hadn’t intended to create more material for the album at all but it just arrived so organically and quickly that it forced a consideration. Whilst it’s maybe the closest thing to a dance / electronica track on the record it’s still very human with most of the parts ‘played’ in on a sampler and left unquantised. Conceptually it’s a track about growth and specifically people growing which slotted in perfectly with the central album themes of continuation and keeping going. There’s a nice pace to the rhythms on the track and I wanted to have at least one track on the album where it leaned more electronic, but was still within the parameters of creating a human project.”


Since his debut release in 2017 Asta Hiroki has long been considered a notable figure across multiple independent music scenes and turned heads at key tastemakers and outlets across the industry. Seeing regular support as a staple of BBC6Music, FIP, BBC, JazzFM, and KCRW. Winning further plaudits from national paper The Guardian for his composition work and XLR8R, Dummy Mag, CLASH, Magnetic Mag Exclaim! on the music media side. Info: Arian Alexander (aka White Afghani) hits the Apparel Tronic main catalogue with Tales From The Backyard, a three-tracker that sounds like it was recorded on a dusty cassette left out in the sun, full of stunningly beautiful imperfections, minutiae and sonic history. It’s a Lo-fi EP at heart but rhythmically very sharp, drifting between grainy textures, deep techno grooves, and a subtle eerie, nostalgic, elegant touch you keep on discovering after each listening session. From the off-kilter bounce of the opening Escape Congo to the fast-burn swagger of Cougar, and finally the profound and intense haze of Before Leaving, there’s a kind of casual intimacy running through it all. Nothing here is trying to be flashy, just music that knows what it’s doing and lets the many hidden details do the talking. Arian’s been building a name for himself through a very personal brand of sound that wander between breakbeat, ambient, UK bass and oddball techno, always with his own logic and his classy style. This EP feels like an off-mic moment from one of his sets, something personal, a bit sideways, and totally comfortable in its own skin.

DJ and producer, Absa / Axel Masurel has been immersed in electronic music since birth.
He quickly developed a passion for DJing and music production. Son of DJ Miloch (a prominent figure in the French techno and house scene of the 90s with his label Tekmics and his duo Lake Soul) and nephew of @ravage-sentimental , he naturally grew up in a world shaped by beats and synthesizers.

At 18, he performed his first DJ set in front of an audience with the support of Cllctve (event organizers in the Annecy region). Around the same time, he launched a residency on Radio Ellebore with the show Promenade Moderne, broadcast weekly from 2015 for several years. True to his eclectic taste, the show explored a wide spectrum of sounds: from techno and house to hip-hop, future beat, and more experimental music.

Over the years, he has shared the stage with artists such as Para One, Florian Meindl, Un*Deux, Agoria, UJO, Bambounou, LOUISE, Ramon Tapia, and many more, as well as collectives like Laissez-Nous Ræver (Annecy), Résolution (Jura), and The Black Møøn (Annecy). He also co-founded the association Modern Walk, through which he organized events and launched a podcast under the same name.

His first single “Anthem” was released in 2022 on the label 1DG. He continues to share his diverse productions on SoundCloud, while performing regularly at events connected to Bieronomy (of which he is part of the team), including the Lyon Bière Festival. Today, he is an active member of the Annecy-based collective The Black Møøn.
