I took the bold challenge to arrange this Bach piece with VST. I used CSS strings, Audiomoddelling SWAM strings. Two violins solo, two violins 1, three violins 2, three viola's, two celli, one cello bas, one double bas.
I used Altiverb as an acoustic environment. Playing with TEC breath control to control volume, vibrato, bow pressure and bow position.

Remnants

I want to dedicate this track to the horrors in Paris and terrorism all around the world, my heart goes out, the fear and grief …. Are we ever truly 'free'? Even from burdens when at times, we can all feel overwhelmed, trapped, overcome with, losses, fears and loneliness. 

Society can often place so many boundaries on our freedom, some more than others, and between different countries, where fear often reigns because of different beliefs and our freedoms become curtailed. 

Sadness can penetrate our very soul and the only thing to hold onto is hope and those moments of joy and 'escape' that we can find - the simple things in life, …. we can lose ourselves in music, in nature, and the garden, in friends, in strangers, in love where we can find it, we can stare at the sky in wonder and we can talk to our companions and 'furry friends'  …. and we can hope.

Even then though, such moments can be impacted by the realisation that not all moments last, and the attacks in Paris were terrible, and continue in areas around the world; many of the people were enjoying such moments of 'freedom' in Paris; many others never really experience 'freedom' as we know it.

So many burdens, still 'yearning for simplicity', and now I try to find some freedom in giving my 'baby', my little 'koala kitty', happy times while I watch her slowly deteriorate, and the tears form, as I too become overwhelmed by 'life' and try to escape into music  ……. 

But i know that we can rise again, that there will always be such moments, when we can find 'true freedom' again  ….. <3

Brad Rau has been performing music for over 20 years all over Boston, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, as a classical guitarist, rock guitarist, and rock drummer. Brad received a scholarship to attend New England Conservatory (NEC), and received a Master’s degree in 2015 with academic honors. At NEC, he studied classical guitar under Eliot Fisk who was the last pupil of Andres Segovia. Brad has performed in countless masterclasses with instructors including; Sharon Isbin, Andrew York and Jason Vieaux, all Grammy award winning guitarists. Brad’s personal learning methods have enabled him to surpass his competition memorizing over 8 hours of the most difficult repertoire for the classical guitar. Brad was a semi-finalist in the International Texas Guitar Competition of 2008.

In addition to his performing career, Brad has mentored hundreds of students of all ages, styles and levels. Many of Brad’s students have gone on to develop their own music careers and teaching studios.

Brad’s unique teaching style combines music, physics, philosophy and humor, making him a well-rounded instructor for a variety of students.
